First Avy Death Already

It is extremely dangerous right now. Many places have an ice layer now burried about a foot to two feet down that is really weak!!

Be careful.

Check it out, do some testing on the mountain.

Stay off the steep stuff if you are not sure.

Hatchers, Indyman96, and My self rode sunday and Indyman96 set one off that was about 6 inches from where his ski touch, but broke about a 40 ft slab. Luckly it broke out and away from him.

My thoughts go out to the girls family.

When we rode Saturday I got pitched off the sled and while crawling back I could pick up broken dinner plate size pieces of ice from my path, about a 1/2" thick. The ice layer was about a foot and a half under the fresh. Should have taken pics but weather was nasty and didn't want to get the camera out.
I know that I'm going to refrain from climbing as much as I like. I got buried last year on my wife's Birthday. That wasn't cool at all.:(

The Snowbird slide was in bound and after they had blasted. Those guys up there are the best at controlling avys. this is not a good sign

also another skier died in a slide on Aspen Mt yesterday. Just barely out of bounds, Powderstash skis that spot. scary year.

According to a handful of people I work with that were there, they said the area that slid just opened up yesterday morning. Very tragic!

It had only been open for a couple of hours when it slid. I knew her and 2 of my good friends were skiing with her when it happened. Sucks.

sorry for her family and friends at this time. The news said she was quite an accomplished young lady. life can be too short.

Makes me sad and appreciate every moment I have with the people around me that put them selves in the danger zone. I'm so sorry...

That is really sad to hear. Like some of you have said about that ice layer. I was out today and not even on a hill and hit the brakes and it slid in chucks a little ways. I am going to stay away from the hills
