Fire n Ice vent kit.....Nice

It was rainy on Thursday so I decided to break out a box of Fire n Ice vents that I had on the shelf and see how they looked. Paul at Fire n Ice is a first class guy in all aspects of sale, service, and follow up. I have lots of install pics with all the tips/tricks Paul shared with me to keep it bonehead (me) simple if anyone needs them. The complete set would be a 2 night install if you go slow and mock everything up like I did.

I found that a Dremmel tool with a fine Roto-Zip bit worked great for cutting the plastic. Also used an air jig saw and the mini belt sander to do the rest. Both pieces that I used were just the cheapo Harbor Tool variety. It is a good idea cover the intake and put towels everywhere to block off all the black plastic shavings that will fly all over. I also ran a shop vac on the backside of all cuts while cutting. Kept the plastic shavings to a minimum.

Next install is the Fire n Ice headlight delete. Gonna turbo the sled in the pics next week and do the delete then. Take a look:

Also removed the hood foam and layed some heat tape. Plenum will come off with boost. Riding it stock tomorrow.

Those are some nice looking vents. I just may be looking into those for venting the 900. How are these when it comes to fine snow finding it's way into the engine compartment, and is there a powder coating option? Thanks for the great pics.

First ride on this install tomorrow. I have run them on my side panels for 2 seasons now in some killer pow with no problems. I'll post up the test run and how it went. EW

Here's a few more showing the headlight delete that we put in tonight. The entire install was so simple we were finished before the paint on the turbo dried. Paul builds some nice stuff that is real straight forward. Take a look:

The Fire N Ice parts are TOP NOTCH!!

Made in the good ole USA ! :usa::usa::usa:

Paul takes a lot of pride in what he does and makes a product that is a cut above the rest.

That White HL delete looks awesome!!

E-Dub... Is Josh taking over the "Head Wrench" status in the garage??

Lets build up a new Pro-RMK next season and shake that Gremlin out of the works my friend...

Life is good.

Get that Elk thawed out and the tub fired up...Eh?

Awesome looking vents! But How strong are they if and when you blow a belt? I like to check my belts often and remove before they explode, but I had a new belt with under three miles shed on me. Taking out my front and rear SLP vents. Are these any stronger? The mesh looks like it would stand up to more impact?

Are these any stronger?

On the shock tower vents both PTO & Mag sides there is a solid grill type backing plate on the inside that is there to protect the mesh from any impacts originating from inside the sled such as a blown belt. They look very strong. On the stirrup vents they are a fairly heavy weight grill type mesh on both sides that seems plenty tough as well.

Hope that answers your question. EW

Thanks. :) Looks like it would be stronger than the stuff the slp vents come with. If there is a next time for me I think I will we place with these vents. Looks good.

Update:

Finished the turbo build and took it into 1.5 feet of fresh in BC yesterday. The sled ripped and the vents worked great. Lots of over the hood conditions all day and it put down anoth 9 or 10 inches during the day. Everything was snowy or wet and the vents stayed water/snow tight. Here's a few pics:

The light in the headlight delete was bright

Have never had to cross a creek yet vented or not. I have another set in the shop, I could run water over but no other vents to compare to. Are there vents that you use that resist water crossings? I bet if ya contacted Paul at Fire n Ice he would be able to give more info.

Fire n Ice

MH, The SPG covers fit well, look great, and will stop the spring rock - pock that some guys (not me) get from riding dirt. Especially the ones (again, not me) that leave their sctatchers down. Better to get the covers now than be embarrased by MH and Allen at Timbersleds when they rebuild your shocks and point out what a dork you are for gravel blasting perfectly good shocks. Again, so I am told. lol. I'll get some pics. EW

EW~Are you aware of why their web site does not work?

I spoke to Paul and ordered a air box from him last week. The website is going to be down until late summer.
Call or email him, he will send you a MS Word doc that lists all his inventory.

Paul is a great guy with 1st rate service and products.

How does your side cover screw down with the F/I rear vents panels ?

I have SLP shock tower vents. They have a metal screen on the backside just the same as the F&I's

As far as water getting into your clutch area..look at the foot wells...you get more from there into the bottom of the clutch area that gets sprayed around while climbing. After a deep snow day I always get a puddle in the bottom of the clutch area..I was thinking of making some sort of drain holes.

FIRE AND ICE...hard to see whats for sale with a web site down that long. There will be a lot of people that will not know to go and shop there with a web site down. Just my opinion, but I would NOT do that from a business prospective.

One day max to move servers or get a new web hosting company. If you are a web hosting customer I have used http://pointonemedia.com you can work with them and make changes yourself or have them do things for you....it is that simple. Check out there web site and go to the customers tab..open up one of the customers sites that is web hosted by their servers. The speed is amazing.

They are a small BC Vancouver Island family run business with no BS people..very honest. They are not out to become millionaires oevr night but are more interesrted in the old fashioned way of business..honesty and integrity. Very reasonable rates as well...you will be surprised how reasonable.

Disclaimer..I have no vested interest or any affiliation with this company. I only know of past performance and business successes.

There's a nylon post that mounts on top of the stirrup vent and a rubber strap that pulls horizontal to the tank side to hold side pressure on the side vents up top. You can see the post in the first 2 pics up top and the third pic shows the strap over the post if you look close. Hope that makes sense.

I found the same to be true. I will try to figure out a clean way to block off some of that open area next season. I thought of the drain holes too but worried they would just take in more pow. Maybe a severe angled hole to the rear. EW

Not sure whats up with pauls web site. EW

I talked to him today on the phone and he said his website sucked so he's having it redone right now. Because of the problem, he's offering pretty good sales!
