Somewhere between too dumb to quit and flat earth
So i finished my 800 IQR conversion!
There were a lot of hitches in the way, some of the larger ones were making my own clutch shims, own shims for engine, cutting a brace out of the chassis and making a two new ones, making my own engine bolts, rear drop down brackets ( ended up cutting a 11/16"s Snap-On socket in half for a shim) reaming out a rear bogey wheel to accept a 25mm bearing and of course reaming out a 2" 90 PVC pipe to put on my carbs. (yes i know im cheep and i am too impatient to order parts and wait 2 weeks.)
Well after all of that i finely got to start the sled after beginning the project about 3 months ago. I heat soaked it for about 1 gallon of gas and let it get hot and cool down 2-3 times. Finally finished at about 1 A.M. on Sunday night. Of course it had just snowed 4"s of snow so on the way home i took it to the rodeo grounds and unloaded for a quick pass and spun my first cookie of the year and yes that takes talent to do in about 5" of snow .
So i took it up in the mountains today to go finish breaking in the engine and to get the jitters out of my system. Unloaded it off the trailer and pulled the cord. It started on the first pull and idled great! I started to get dressed and it died . So i walked over and gave it a few pulls and it didn't start???
So i finish getting dressed, get my helmet on, check the plugs and they looked fine. Checked for spark and had some so i gave her one more yank and i was on my a$$ looking at the sky. Pull cord snapped in two.
The worst part was is that i fell in the same spot my friend just took a piss at...
So i instantly lost all energy( and hurt my hand after punching my friend in the kidney) because now i get to pull the whole engine out.... AGAIN! DAMN IT! lol
Well enjoy my pics, at least it looks perdy and sounds good!
Only thing left to do is put my new 151” rails on and get my a-arms, rails, bars, rear wheels, steering post and running boards in for some orange powder. Ohh and pull the engine to put a new recoil rope on.
