Finally ran it against an Etec!

F-Bomb,
Very Funny!! I used to carry my camera everywhere. I need to start doing it again, I could have stirred the pot into a vortex with a win/win video, and gave myself a week of fun, bickering on-line at the puter. Everytime I ride with Pro's or ride a Pro, I'm blown away as to how well they just "Keep on truckin".

AA you need the Liquid Image goggle cam system that I have. I've gotten all kinds of video to support my statements.

I've become the king of video...hard for your loser buddy's to fish story everything when it's CAUGHT ON FILM!

it ALWAYS goes a bit like this....

"OK pay attention because right here is where I was TOTALLY KICKING YOUR A$$...(fast forward some more) and right here is where I was looking back MOCKING YOU ..Yep that's you....YOU"RE THE LITTLE SPEC WAY WAY BACK THERE. If we could zoom in we could probably see the tears in your little bich eyes" bah ha ha ha

Pix or it never happened !!!!!!!

Well I'll settle it all on this post-

My dad can beat up your dad!

My dad rides a Pro by the way!

Lmfao

I ride an 09 M1000 and have "never" beat any newer 800 drag racing. Kind of ticks me off, so now I say lets race on the hill. That's a comparison I can compete with very favorable results at. So in my opinion Kelsey's truck comparison has some validity in it. BTW I have sno checked a new 2012 Pro RMK, so I am not here to stir the pot.

Jay,
Dropping your 12 to 15 lb. pack and dropping 20 lbs. would more than likely make a very noticeable difference. What makes these Pro's work so well is the fact that they are somewhere between 25 and 40 lbs. lighter and have a 2.4" powder grabbing track, it certainly isn't the motor. We have a local here who bleeds yellow and can't understand why anyone in their right mind would run a Polaris. He's been outclimbing and outdragging most everyone for a long time. He weighs a whopping 155 lbs, it doesn't matter what sled he rides, it appears to run real well, especially when he competing with folks tipping the scale at 190 to 220. We all rode together a few weeks ago, a 190 lb. kid on a Pro was outperforming him so badly on the mountain it appeared he had a sled problem, but said everything was "just right". Apparently many other folks have seen the same results, judging by the snowcheck orders at some Polaris dealers. I'm going to be moving from a high mileage, real well running UBR-900 to a Pro, I hope someone can find somemore mid range pull, cause I'm really going to miss it. The Pro is a much better deep snow sled.

interesting indeed. All my friends live and breath Skidoo and early season be for we had much snow I could not out run an 800r or the 800etech on my pro on the flat ground. The etch had a much lighter rider and the R had a few bolt on mods but nothing great. however on steep hill in a foot and a half of new snow all things were very different. the pro had a good 3 to 5 mph on the etecs with a very simalar size person. So it is amazing how well this sled performs in the snow on a hill. it is't so much power as it is a very good balance of performance. fun to get to show what a really underpowered sled can do!!!

I can add to this with a drag race against a cat

polaris either lied about the hp on this motor or this sled is wasting no power to get the hp to the snow, which could be since every time i would check the temp of the clutches they would be luke warm at best.

Somebody should sue Polaris for underrating their horsepower.

My .02

I've put about 400 miles on an '11 pro 155 the last part of this season. Alot of those miles have been with an '11 etek 146. We've rode in varying conditions and elevations. Both of the sleds perform very very well. Both sleds are bone stock. I think it's a matter of preferance and rider ability at this piont. I like the smoothness of the etek motor alot. I also like the handling of the pro alot more. The doo is a great ride on the trail for me, I'd rather be on the pro in the steep. Each sled has it's advatages, for me the pro is better. The doo fits him better. The two machines are so equal all around it's scary IMO.

A 16" wide has more weight and much higher resistance to rotation, I also assume the TRA primary weighs more than the Polaris? If this is so the 10 extra BHP is all used up and is back to equal. Now the Pro is lighter and has a more efficient hill climbing design so it would have the advantage in the hills.

Mike

you pro riders can borrow my video cam if you think you will ever come close to highmarking a skidoo:)

I used to film it all until BRP sent me a cease and decist order for embarrising the ****t out of the "new XP". So I lined up an XRS and Summit and smoked them too!
What happens....they PHOTOCOPIED the original order!!! Now that's lame!:high5:

It's more like Polaris has finally made a mountain machine that can compete on different levels , congrats Polaris . We've been missing you for the last several winters , even the snow magazines where having a tough time finding things to right about . Now that you've got a machine that works how about taking some pointers from Cat , Yamaha and Ski-Doo and work on the engines , clutches ,wire harnesses , and maybe mounting the electrical components in places where they don't burn up and if it's not to much to ask how about centralizing everthing under the hood , that way it'll fix the balancing problem since your masters at it and then the other manufactures with dial theirs in also . Basically this all came about because they lost 40 pounds , Amazing I recall some other manufacture doing this 8 or 9 years ago ? Took you long enough .

oh yeah, b/c the dragons were such a POS. sure, we'll go with that if it makes you feel better. granted i like my pro better but the dragons flat worked too. the handling was always a toss up between the dragon and the M sled. the xp just sucked, imo. although i will say, all things being equal the M and xp would slightly highmark a dragon. slightly. but nothing that was significant and kept a dragon from going the exact same places. as it does now, it had a lot more to do with rider ability. everyone seems to generally agree polaris did a good job with the pro, (lets remember there will always be things to improve on every sled regardless of manufacturer) but i get a little bored with all of the none poo riders trying to re-write history to make the dragons out to be something along the lines of a 96 powder extreme simply b/c some had very significant and unacceptable motor issues. some, not all. as it has been for years, they all make very good and capable sleds and everyone rides their preference. get over it, move on, and go ride what you like. most people could really give a rats *** who's dick is the biggest on any one particular day. but i guess it is the season now that the grass is turning green in most places...

Ski doos have good clutches and engines? Cats don't burn wires and break clutch spiders?

Do some of you guys really believe that people haven't owned other brands in the past? Or our entire riding crew only rides one brand?

Jay, whats funny is the loudest beakers about how awesome their brand of choice is, will be beaking just as loudly about how much better their sled is now.........after they switch brands. LOL.

But I gotta say ....nobody does it better with less credibility than the Doo group, which oddly this year there were more guys than ever jumping ship and switching. Admit it or not the # of rats leaving that ship are gonna grow as Cat and Poo continue to outshine em in all around performance as they have this year. The move to narrow up the 011 XP was necessary and a definite improvement in fun factor, but its a bandaid and everyone knows it. I actually really like the 2011 XP its their best effort since 06. Gonna be really interesting to see how the new Cat stacks up and if Poo jacks up the HP a bit on the Pro. The Doo and Cat aren't really spankin em now so a few more ponies and you're really gonna hear squakin. LOL.

poo beakers.LOL.its ok,theres nothing wrong with never getting a highmark.maybe santa will surprise you guys with some more HP next year:)
