Finally, I can SEE!!!!!!

This is THE best sled mod EVER. I bought contacts!:)

I've been riding probably 15 years, so I just took it for granted that goggles and glasses DO NOT work well together. I've always just worn my glasses, and no goggles. We'd regurlarly ride at 30 below, and I got used to it.

We went for a night ride the other night, and it was AWESOME!!

Has anyone else experienced this?

Sorry, i'm just thrilled! Makes sledding fun now!

I used to ride with glasses and hated it. I could never see due to fogging. I switched to contacts and they were great too, until high speed running on the roads and they would want to come out with slight airflow under my goggles. I then opted to have lasik surgery. BY FAR the best thing I've done when it comes to seeing when I ride.

Congrats on making the jump to contacts...you'll really be able to enjoy your rides now :)

Im in the same boat. Finally got contacts this year and its amazing to be able to ride, see, and not get frostbite. Smartest thing Ive done in a long time.

Contacts rule

I have a slightly different story. I thought I had great eye sight then my wife had Lasik. She started pointing out things I couldn't see. Went in and had my eyes checked. The doctor wanted to know how long my eyes had been this bad. I figured I just needed classes for driving so I didn't bother with contacts. I just didn't wear the glasses while riding. Then softball season started and I was ammazed how much the glasses helped me see the ball. The drawback was I got stylish glasses that didn't have big lenses so I had to always turn my head to look at things. Softball is the reason I tried contacts and I couldn't be happier. My showed up early last week to go riding and in the rush to get loaded I forgot to put them in. Bugged me all day.

I did the Lasik thing about 5 years ago. Had bifocals and astigmatism. One of thebest moves of my life. Allowed me to ditch the modular I needed because of the glasses. Absolutely no adverse affects. One question: Why do non-prescription sunglasses cost more than prescription shades?

Glasses to contacts

I did the same thing 4 years ago, it's awesome!! I needed glasses to drive, but being a mechanic they were always in the way for everyday wear, so I only wore them while driving.

I could not see subtle things like big drifts, ditches, etc. in flat light especially. It was funny for the people I rode with, but for me not so much!!

I got contacts, and all that changed, and to boot, if I ride w/o goggles, the snowflakes don't sting my eyes!

I may consider lasik in a couple more years, going to get the wife's eyes taken care of first.

Glad to hear about your sight!!

Hahahaha! And, yes, Ollie, I'M THRILLED!!!! How could ya tell?

It's almost a life changing thing for me, oddly enough. Now, I too can look like a rockstar with sweet goggles on, instead of iced up glasses....

On a side note, who all rides in the summer with contacts? Does really heavy dust bother you if the goggles seal to your face well?

I switched to contacts and they were great too, until high speed running on the roads and they would want to come out with slight airflow under my goggles.

With contacts u need to make sure u keep them wet. The trick is to train urself to keep blinking. This is especially important when riding something req concentration - when u tend to keep your eyes wide open to focus on the terrain. Need to keep blinking during these sections to keep the lenses from drying and bluring vision. I need to remember this on my street bike sometimes also. (The blinking thing is also good for rain or watersports (where u get splashed in the face).

I carry an extra pair of lenses - just in case I pop off the goggles and get a face blast of powder. Never know. (I wear disposables). And its not unheard of to catch a lense by accident with a glove, finger, or part of the helmet. Theyd be kinda hard to find in the snow id think.

After blowing a corner in IP 2 years ago, I decided to get a helmet setup I could wear glasses in. It sure made sledding a lot more enjoyable. It also allowed me to ditch the Skidoo helmet I was wearing while riding a Polaris. LOL

I'm getting Lasik done next week, and I can't wait to be free of glasses while sledding.

J Roc, I know exactly how you feel.

I have terrible eyes, been wearing glasses since I was 4. I have sledded for 20 years with glasses fighting fogging up and all the fun associated with glasses. This summer, I went to the eye doctor and asked him what my options were. Because of my thin retinal walls, and holes in the bottom of my eyes, I am not a candidate for lasics. So, we looked into contacts and they dont make soft disposable contacts in my prescription. But, he came up with the highest prescription he could find and told me to try them. They arent perfect, but for sledding they are amazing. During the day, I can see fine, as long as Im not trying to read something. My last two trips this year were as cold as cold gets, and I had zero problems fogging up with my mx helmet and goggles. I could see everything I needed to see with out any troubles at all. I can't believe I rode all this time without them. I only wear them for sledding, playing ball, or hunting on damn cold days. The major drawback is at night. I have to take them out if I am going to drive. Every light is about twice as big at night, which makes things interesting. But it makes a good excuse so I dont have to drive off the mountain.

My other alternative is a permanent contact, which I might do in time, but need more money for that. I think Ill just hold out for an eye transplant. ha ha ha. They have to be able to do that sometime in the future don't they?
