Finally decided, bought a sled

I know there are guys here that can drop 20k on a new turbo sled yearly but I aint one of them LOL. Anyway working within my budget I bought myself a newer sled than what I had... a 2002 Snowchecked Edge with the factory 156" track. I got to test ride it before I bought it and holy ****, its crazy fast! One hell of an upgrade from my '92 PhazerST! Just incredible power!

Sled is in great shape except for a few missing paddles, somewhere down the road I'll replace the track. Engine is in great shape having just been overhauled and a SLP bearing kit on it. Low miles, no rips, tears, dings or other damage. It has all the snow check goodies, spare gas can, SLP duel pipes and I absolutely love the color.

Cant wait to see where this thing will go

Side note: Is there anywhere I can get a copy of the owners manual? Polaris had only the supplimental manual online... the previous owner didnt have the manual.

The only thing I have to buy for it is a cover... the guy I bought it from stored it in a covered trailer... might be a pain to find a polaris cover fitting a 156... hmmm.

bueno

Nice buy, had a friend with one of those, it was a ridiculous sled, especially for 2002.

It's amazing how good machines that are stored in a covered trailer look, I gotta get me onna them...

Anyway, hope it's snowin' where you're livin'

is a great sled...make sure hte handlebars are set up well for your heaight...and one other thing you might want to be careful of...that sled is prone to ratchet badly...so you might consider replaceing drivers with anti-ratchet drivers...

did both those on my old one and it was a great sled!!!

no reason at all to justify, that is a great sled...just different riding style than the new ones...and one thing that would make a huge impact (and you shoudl be able to get a great deal on one) is to find a Boss seat for that sled...will improve rideability etc.

Nice goat! The boss seat is a huge improvement, I would get a nice set of risers, then thumb thru the SLP catalogue!

Great sled great color

Have a grand ol'time!

Let us know how it rides. Your riding is going grow by leaps and bounds.

Good luck

Another seat option would be a tall POLARIS racing seat.

That along with some risers & you're good to go!

Congrats on your purchase. My first sled was a twin to that sled. I have since upgraded but we keep it around. I just redid the top end and got over 4000 miles out of the original pistons. If i hadn't broke the belt on the oil pump i would still be on those same pistons. Truely one of the better sleds polaris made.

nice sled but that gas can is really gay. You have to get rid of it.

You can send it to me, UPS collect. PM me for my address.

Congrats on the new sled! BTW, that gas can on the back is like pure gold to a Polaris Gen II or Edge owner who never bought one when Polaris sold them. The best fitting can for the sled. Remember to take it off the sled when unattended or it might blow away in the wind! I tried to buy a gas can off a trade-in machine at a local dealer, they wouldn't sell...and those things are rare and expensive when showing up on Ebay.

As for a cover, check Ebay out, you can buy new ones all over. Look up BlueDave, I think, his Ebay store sells covers quite alot. I bought a spare cover from him cheaper than any Polaris dealer will sell them.

Awesome sled man. I have an 02 800 that i put a 159 w\ extro drivers and redid the suspension to ryde fx. I have done lots of other things as well but too your question about the cover - Yes you can get them. Do yourself a favor and buy it off ebay. I bought mine from a local dealer and it was $120. Also there are lots of parts for that sled on ebay and in the swapmeet on here. If you watch ebay enough you will see a manual go by. I found a dealers manual with all the specs and de-structions. Most dealers will not sell you one of these. They go for around $30. Hope you enjoy the sled.

If it's been awhile, you might consider an avy class before you see where that thing can go!! Have fun be safe!

A Pro X shorty seat will do wonders when coupled with a riser. your sled looks like the long brother of my old one!

You the same DallanC from MM? Congrats on the new ride!

Yea thats me over there. That place has been going down hill for a while so I've been finding new places to hang out. Who are you over there?

A budget hey, hmmmm......guess you should have spent a little less on your mansion there..

LOL thats not my house... I wish it was though. I live in a 1800sqft house built back in '79. Its the house of the guy I bought the sled from, it was stormy by the time I got home with it and didnt take any other picts.

That's funny...... I was just about to tell you to sell the thing and finish your lawn but now I know why the guy was selling it.

Nice find. Should be a fun ride.

I'm BUL_KRZY over there - carried part of my user name from SnoWest (since 2001) over to MM. I don't get too carried away with being involved on forums - I just like to read and learn - and post here and there. I remember your user name and pics from that fine bull you took on the boulder a couple years back if I'm not mistaken?
