Heres the deal.
I have been working with fiber optics and fiber installation for a couple years now, however. My boss tells me since I don't have a cute little piece of paper SAYING I know what I am doing he can't promote me.
Daddy wants more toys:D

Does anyone know of any buisnesses that do a good fiber optic training cource??
Not the little rinky dink 2 day cource but a decent 2 week kind of cource where i might actually learn something??

Any help would be great.

I have been surfing the web and looking and there are a bunch of companies that offer some training, but they more or less look like the mail order colege degree program things and I want a real one.

cource = course. Maybe that will yield more results.

Did you try any of the fiber optic cable manufacturers? Here's one that I can think of.

Corning cable

you might look into an association for some training.... The SCTE has pretty good training programs throughout the country on all kinds of subjects. They are having there annual EXPO in Philidelphia next month, and there website should have local training opportunities listed through one of there chapters.

Mostly work with security systems.
Camera, fiber control links, fiber bundles and unit control lines.
Installation, splicing, fusing, pretty much the whole works.
All industrial stuff.

I'd go with the FOA and start researching classes there, looking at fusing technologies, wdm, hand polishing (some companies actually still use this). Good luck keeping up its all enough to just boggle the mind.

we had a leviton rep come train us a few years ago.he knew various methods of termination and we got to try all of them to see what worked best.not sure what else you will learn in a two week course....

www.lightbrigade.com These guys know their stuff. Your company would be better off sending you to get officially trained. I learned from contract splicers and picked up a lot of bad habbits.

Yea, I learned a pretty narrow amount. Just what I needed to know to do my job. That is why when the boss told me I needed formal training I jumped on it.

Thanks for the info guys, I will be checking these places out.
