Has anyone with a fuel inj YZ removed the airbox and run a filter pod? Is there a temp sensor in airbox? Finally ran in some powder and the filter skin I put on the intake horns freezes over and is hard to clean. Also wrung water from my air filter after bike thawed out.

I am running twin airs air box and filter setup and it is working great so far my brother had it in montana all week and he said it didnt miss a beat

I sealed the intake off with with the materal that starting line products use on their air intakes and put a 2" pod on the side for more air flow. then you need to seal up the intake where the scoops hook the the bike. i used 1/4 inch weather strip and there is some small holes on the bottom by the air filter you need to block them off. I also removed the air filter and put a outers pre filter. This totally stopped all the snow, i have been running this all winter with no problems.

We have set up 4 2010 & Newer YZ450 FI, All with a pod filter.
Works great, a little loud. but never plugs with snow.
Use a 2" hose to extend intake so pod filter will sit just behind steering head bearing. the temp sensor can be installed into the hose.
simple and works!

There is another way to deal with the intake of the YZ450 ( other than selling it and buying a KX450 HaHa ) Some guys I know in Bozeman blocked the intake off iat end of shroud and drilled two large holes in side of radiator shroud and cover with filter fabric or install SLP filter pods. They say it works exxelent and only cost you a set of shrouds and is much easier to switch back in summer. just my 2 cents.

I have the twin air set up as well I used some of that snowmobile foam and covered it in the frog skins material and then superglued them into the air intakes on the shrouds. Also put some of the material on the holes in the twin air airbox. Never had a problem with it and when I get snow on the shrouds I just wipe it off and its good to go.

Ya I noticed there is a big area inside those shrouds that could be cutout and covered with fabric. The twin air airbox looks great, but for $250 I'm gonna try a few other things first. Great ideas.
