Hey guys. Im Thinking of ordering a 2012 sb assault with the 2inch track,. I Have a few questions. Im coming off a 09 800 xp btw. Anyone change their ski's to the wide ones? Rmk style or aftermarket? I'd like to change to wide skis, but would have to change spindles so i could ajust for the wider ones? can i do that? I want a narrow stance, not a big fan of anything over 40, let alone 42 inchs which i think it comes with. Any input apreciated.

haha maybe i should i dunno. Im from manitoba so im in the flats most of the time. Plan on headin west next year though at least once. Maybe i should just go rmk. I guess 155 to 144 isnt that much differnce. By the time i buy skis etc etc its cheaper to go pro rmk.

Yea I put C&A XTXs on mine. love them.

yea you can change spindles if you want, but dont need to. if you do you would be as adjustable as the Assault RMK up front...

If i were you, i would just buy a pro rmk unless you're stuck on keeping the 144. if you want narrow you can get RMK spindles and bring it down to 41" i think. Or you can get RMK A-arms/shocks/spindles and be down to RMK widths... save yourself the trouble and get an RMK.

Yes the stance is 42" on the switchback assaults. I installed Slydog Powderhounds on mine and love them. I had them on my Dragon too and I've always been very happy with them in deep snow. On trail they do tend to dart but I'm not a trail fan so I use them as little as possible.
I was in the same boat trying to decide between a Pro and the switchy because I live at sea level. I've taken mine out west and got around just as well as the mountain sleds I was riding with. I actually like the 144" as I like playing in the trees and the shorter skid really shines there. I've climbed everything I wanted out west and was very happy with my sled versus a Pro, I made the right decision for my riding. I guess it boils down to your riding style and where you ride. I for one would get very bored riding a 155" sled anywhere other than out west.

Thanks for the posts guys

And yea thats what i was kind of thinking. Ive been rockin a backcountry renagade for 2 years and have had no problems gettin around whatsoever. But i guess if you do the math its not that much more track on the ground anyway, and i get the sled i want really. Be nice to see polaris have the sb assault wth options like ajustable front and skis like the skidoo backcountry.

where in MB are you, pm me, if you're close I'd let you test drive mine

I may trade mine off on a 12, if I do, I'm ordering it with the 2" this time. The 1 3/8 is a decent track, but its not enough for me, especially after coming off an RMK

also these things don't feel like a 42 inch wide sled. they handle just as good as my rmk did I feel

Im from boissevain. C and c are having a demo thing on monday in brandon. They got a 2011 rmk 155, and a few others. I planned on riding the rmk to see if i like em. Apreciate it though.

as a heads up, don't expect the rmk to be fast. I would also advise against the 155 in manitoba. I've had a hard enough time not bending a 144 with the way I ride (did bend everything in the rear skid on my rmk 144)

We get too hard of snow here to support longer track lengths and not bend things if you are really aggressive

I'm in Russell so if you head this way at all let me know

There isnt a switchback assault at the demo so i was told. But the rmk should give me the idea. I dont plan on the rmk 155. Like you said it is way to big for out here. I plan on getting the sb assault with 2inch track. C + A xtx's , and rmk spindles/ or different a arms. And if i do go out west i should be fine with the 144 and 2 inch. Hows the snow at russel right now?
