Few MTNTK Blowhole questions

First off anyone thinking about doing this be prepared its a fair sized job. I didn't realize it until I got the kit and started working on it.

I knows its been asked but I couldnt find it, where does it plug in the instructions don't show the plug? Any other tips or tricks to help a pro newbie install this thing? Got about half way done and called er a day. Thanks!!

The plug you wanna attach to is marked dc power, and its in that bundle of wires on the shock tower above the clutch cover. The install is a bit time consuming, but if you take the time it comes out really nice. If you have a Dremel tool it makes cutting the plastics super easy and clean.

I just put the kit on mine.

The quality of the parts in the kit is very good.

After install the fitment of the side panel is not good? My left side panel use to lay nice, tight and flush on the fuel tank cowling. Now it hits the new clutch cover support and holds the side panel out about 3/4" from fitting flush. I took every thing apart again to see if I had jacked up the install somewhere along the way. It starts hitting on the plastic side panel about 2-3 inches down from the top. Very difficult to even close and latch it and won't take long to tear up the panel.

I also have the vent removed to cut it out as described in the instructions and the oil cap hits the side panel also, so there is no way I see to install the vent with out it hitting and causing a lot of rubbing. I know this kit raises the clutch cover a couple of inches (that's why the vent needs to be trimmed) but I'm not sure why it comes out to the left so much????

Take a look at the first picture in this thread. Not my machine but the gap is almost identical.

Got mine all done, it deffniantly helps to have 2 sets of hands, the install was pretty involved and took lots of rime but the fit and finish is pretty good, didn't notice a cap like you mentioned but i'll have a look

Side Panel GAP

I also just finished the install on a blowhole. I also had a gap and the side panel would close up like it did before. I took a die grinder and trimmed the clutch cover by the oil tank and the back support. Panel now closes like it did prior to install. I will take a few pictures tonight of what I trimmed.

I do not have the Blow Hole, but I am seriously considering the install. I presently have my hood off removing the foam and installing pet screen on the vents. I took a look at the belt guard after reading this post. With the hood off and the clutch side panel on you can look straight down on the belt guard. The side panel is curved out and the belt guard is located in the bowed out portion of the panel. If you raise the belt guard up when you install the Blow Hole, the belt guard will hit the panel where it begins to curve in at the top. It looks like you would need to trim about a half inch off the edge of the belt guard to get the clearance back. Also, removing the foam would help a little if you haven't already done so.

It also looks like the oil cap will definitely interfere with the vent.

Mine is shown in stock location and is very close to the vent.

Excellent picture and description on that Dirty Steve.

I need to do some trimming when I get home this weekend.

Seems like a shame to start chopping up pieces on this kit because it looks so nice out of the box but unfortunately it just doesn't fit well enough for me. Maybe I'm just a picky bastard?

It would be great to see some pics of the Blowhole installed from the side.

Install

Pictures show what I trimmed off the clutch cover and also some of the bracket from MTNTK. I have replaced the top vents by the oil cap with 2 Cool Vents so that was not a issue for me. Panel closes like it did before the install. Install takes some time but it turned out very nice. Had it running last night and the fan moves a lot of air! Does have a little whine to it at idle but nothing you will notice when riding.

Also included a picture of my finished summer/fall project.

Nice pictures. That gap you have on the first picture is what I have now also. Was not there before.

My oil cap fits just fine with 2cool air vents installed in place of the stock vents. I had to bend the frame that mounts the blow hole in to allow the middle "guide" in the rear of the side panel to go between the plastic from the console and the frame of the blow hole. Once I did that it fits like stock. It takes a little more work to latch as you have to make sure you get the tab between the two pieces but its gonna be worth it. The only time you have to open it anyways is to add oil.
