Fell into a vent hole...

Was out riding couple weeks ago, when to wheely up a 20ft tall knoll, 3/4 of the way up I busted through the snow and fell into a vent hole. I fell and landed on my back on some very cozy lava rock and the sled luckily didn't tip over onto me. The skis where the only thing above the snow, everything else was below the snow line, it was vertical, if it had caved in anymore I doubt we could have got the sled out, it was a good dig the way it was. My buddy has pics on his camera phone but don't know how to get them off of it.

Has this happen to anyone else? Maybe into a creek?

I'm constantly worried about it now.

Does your buddies phone have a micro SD card ? pretty easy to load onto your puter from that.

I'm not sure, he uses verizon and doesn't have a texting on his plan.

When I was still in the hole I was able to get a good look and basically all the snow in a 20' radius of the hole was atleast 1-3' off the ground, it was pretty crazy. The hole was about 8' deep at the front 5'-6' at the back.

abandoned mine shafts

I have never fallen into one but have seen numerous open holes down in the Sierra Madre range in southern wyoming.. Pretty spookey

Another way to get pictures out, if the phone and a computer has bluetooth... is to shoot it over that way. I use bluetooth to transfer all kinds of stuff between phone and computer(s).

That place must be getting ready to erupt. I have ran into a few of those holes in the snow in Newberry Crater and some around Edison snow park too.

where did you find the vent?i know of a few, south shore elk lake, sheridan shelter,a bunch south of bach below the catch trail,a small one top of tumalo, edison.
