favorite track length & why ?

We do alot of creek/tree boondocking and anything less than a 151 is tuff in there. The floatation of the longer tracks let you stop-analyse (sp) then gas it. Any shorter and those guys are hitting it hard and making bad judgments to keep up momentum.

reloader, was that Robbie's sled (Avid Products)? He has a 174" under his M1000 too.

I went from a 144" last year to a 153x15x2.25. Definitely notice the difference on the big pow days :D , a little tougher for me on heavy snow days, or in some other areas (like going down and wanting to turn it to head back up). I don't have enough weight on me to muscle it in some circumstances like I've mentioned.

Yep,
It was Robbie Holemans, awesome setup, I was at his shop getting some extensions for my wifes cat. We put a 144' under her 600.

After owning everything from a 121 to a 162x16, i prefer the 151 the most. I think my next sled will be a 153. I like the 162 for all out climbing and deep powder days but other than that it was too long imo for boonin, jumpin', and whippin ****y's.

151 for me, easy to turn, easy to lift, track speed more than track length will get you places. I'd consider going to 159, but that is as long as I'd go. 151 fits in my truck perfectly too, just over 2.5 feet sticking out, anything more and I'd be afraid of losing it going down the road! :)

I really liked my 159 last year, but this year I really wanted to go from 2 to 2 1/2 inch paddles and 16 wide. We'll see how 162x16x2.5 does......

alot of good responses.i would have guessed that they're would be more 144's in the crowd.it seems alot like the 151's -163's.do many people jump much on the 163's or are they more likely to bend the rails ?--jim:D

I want to here from the guy's with the 174's, want to know what they think.
I have ridden everthing except a 174. Everytime I step up in track size it just keeps getting better. Thinking about going 174 so lets here it good or bad.

the 159" edge chassis track length feels like a 144" on a summit

good all around climber and docker IMO

DD

My first jump into "todays" long track sleds form the traditional 136" was a 2004 Vertical Escape 700/144". On the deep Sierra Cement days it would trench terribly if you lost too much mommentum. Then I went to a 2003 Vertical Escape 159". Love it, it wouldn't trench like a 144", it would get back up on top the snow. But, on most days it feels like there is plenty of track back there.

My new sled has a 151", I'm hoping it will be a perfect medium, as many also seem to think.

153"x 2.25 on the M1000, 144"x2.25 on the T-cat mod...Need to go at least 151" or better on the T-cat to really enjoy the power. 162" a little better in the extreme, but not a whole bunch, anything over a 151" seems to float well.

just my .02 cents

 Kind a sounds like ladies night out...way to go....shag me baby!:)

I'm currently on a 144x16. I like it, but have considered a 151. Not sure if I'd go any longer than that since I do a bunch of flat land riding.

155" on turbo 700 Dragon not enough.... upgrading to the 163"....stock even 155 was to short....bigger...longer...better... and don't say you cannot boondock a 163....yapyapyap...all ya want.... when a 180lb 40yr old man can BD a 163" track on a M10.... go fly a kite... LONGER BETTER.....HEY is that not what all the girls said...
