Fastrax!!! A+++

So I am doing the front end update on my 07 and putting on the 09 narrower front end. 2 weeks ago, I ordered the kit from Curt at Fastrax. The kit came in an all looked ot be good. Product was delivered quickly and I opened up the box to check it out...everything was wrapped up and looked good. I started to put on all of the new parts and as I unwrapped the pto side fender I discovered a 4 inch crack. I took some pictures and was going to send them in. I called today to get this resolved and Curt took care of it no questions asked. He didnt need to see the pics and he gave me no grief. He had me send my broken one back and was getting a new fender shipped out right away.

I just wanted to give Curt credit for taking care of everything.

Prey for snow!!!

If any business/dealership doesn't have that type of customer service today then they better go into other type of work as the won't last very long.

I ordered a set of FASTRAX straight tipped rails for my RMK, they were shipped right away and were packaged very nicely. Everything was perfect on them.

How hard is that new plastic and bumper to install? Is any cutting required or do you just pull off the old parts and reattach the new ones? Is it lighter?
It's good to hear the positive report on FXT. You guys should do a display at Arctic Man this year. You will have fun and there will be thousands of us riders with more money then brains to sell stuff to.

As mentioned, just remove and replace plastic, if installing the cobe bumper then you will need to cut two small slots in the nose cone directly under the front lower a-arm bolts for the new bumper mounts.

fastrax will have representatives racing at arctic man and alyeska (sorry for the spelling), Doug danger and Johny wick will be riding turbos and maybe a little partying:D:beer;:beer;

Plastics swap was easy as pie! As Curt reccomended, I went with some button head stainless steel screws with some nylock nuts instead of the factory Polaris plastic push pin typ rivets(I believe I used some 5/16 x 3/4" button head socket cap screws)... It really tightens things up nicely and they arent isible from the outside so it didnt hurt the appearance at all. Other than that, I have a pneumatic riveter which makes riveting super easy and they go right into the original holes. The worst part of the whole thing was removing all of the black silicone than Polaris had sealing the plastics against the bulkhead... Now Im just trying to decide if I want to re-seal it witht he same stuff...Any opinions???

I was planning on going with the COBE front bumper but picked up the SKINZ for a great price so I went with it instead. Also an easy install.
The foam on the inside of the panel came out really easy and while the parts were off the sled, I picked up some DEI heat protectant aluminum sheeting from Summit Racing and lined the inside of the exhaust side fender. This stuff is only 3/16 inch and supposadly will not hold water like the factory foam Polaris used.

I am also going to remove the hood foam and replace with the DEI...
48"x42" roll was $108.00 from Summit Racing.

I just wanted to give these guys props for their service and hopefully Ill be giving them more business in the near future.

MAXX

ditto on the opinions on Fastrax. I bought a used Union Bay engine and they have helped a lot. Gave good advice on the clutching and shipped pdq. Helped me out on the phone today on some carb settings as well.

Our industry needs more companies like them

Just curious cause I just ordered some handlebars from them(online). What type of bad experiences have you had with RSI?

They wont answer the phone and wont respond to emails. They have a message on the phone saying they have difficulty responding to emails because of the snowmobile show season. I think this is bull****. They are still running a business and need to take care of their customers. I think a week is a little long to reply to an email even if you are busy. Had my order placed for 3 weeks now. When I ordered it, I got an email a few hours later saying it was shipped and it was charged to my credit card. All I want is a tracking number so I can find out where it is landed.

P.S. Sorry to hijack the post.

Curt is the Man for sure. Really nice guys to work with. As far as Doug Danger & Johhny Wick goes...stay away from those nuts, they drink race gas for breakfast;)

Curt and the gang are unbelievable just a stand up crowd...and when they do miss phone calls (busy in the shop i believe) they are quick to return one...

Now see, thats the way it should be everywhere. If I get customer service like that, I would be way more willing to deal with them again. I havent personally dealt with Fastrax but I have bought stuff from Skinz and 2kool vents and have nothing but good things to say about them.

I have talk to both Curt and Justin numerous times over the phone on just about anything. They are more than just a good company, they are good people. I have bought more than a few things from them and they are on top of everything, even made a few order changes without an issue.

On the silicone, I did some this morning on my 09 update kit from fastrax and I will tell you it can be a pain. Especially with some leaky silicone tubes. Black silicone does not wash off without solvent or gas.

And I can say the same as above for RSI. Tried for a few weeks to get ahold of them about some items but ended up giving up. They did give me a discount coupon for my next purchase though.

They do have a problem returning calls. If I dont return calls or answer my phone I wouldnt have ANY business. But I have heard they do other things great.

Hey Greasemonkey.... no problem on hijacking the post. I have never personally ordered from RSI but there is reason for that. My cousin had some of the same issues last year as you guys have been having this year. Therefore, I have always tried to find other options. Its a shame because they make some cool stuff.

Regarding the black silicone... I picked up a caulking tube of black RTV. I think it'll be a lot easier than trying to use conventional tubes of silicone. I just wasnt sure how necessary it really was. I mean we are venting these things whenever and wherever possible. I guess the vents are generally in locations that will not ingest as much snow as all of these seems. I am going to wait until all of my mods are done and finalized so that once that tube is opened up...I can just keep going with it.

I have added a few pics here of the DEI heat protectant that I added inside the exhaust side fender. I am going to have to make a few cuts in it once my shock tower vents are all done. I got a little ahead of myself over the weekend!!!

Finally got a hold of them and got a tracking number. They sent me an email saying my order was shipped on the 10th but it actually didnt get shipped until the 24th!! Aparrently one item was on backorder and they didnt let me know. Good luck with anyone else ordering from them.
