Farmington Ride Tomorrow (Wed) 11:30am

Going riding with a buddy up Farmington. Will be at the gate at 11:30-11:45. Just going for an easy ride to break the new turbo in and see how the 2009 Kx450 does with a 2moto kit behind it.

Woulden't mind meeting up with anyone up there if they're looking for a nice afternoon ride.

Hey Guys,
I live in Davis county and have never riden my sled up Farmington. I have an enclosed 4 place and believe that big of trailer keeps me from trying. Am I right that you would need a small trailer to get up there, or is there options for riding up Farmington with a larger trailer?

wouldn't recommend pulling it up the canyon but u can park at the bottom, but would suggest a two place or sled deck for up there.

Just got back, had a great ride. Didn't see anyone else up there, but there was one group parked in the lot.

The snow was good. There was more than I anticipated but still plenty of places to jack your sled and self up. We did spent a lot of time off the trail, just going slowwww.

I've seen 4 place trailers in the parking lot up there, but it seems like a bad idea to me. You would have a heck of a time every time you met someone coming the other way, and the pavement sections on the bottom of the canyon get really icy and nasty. Also, parking would be a joke if you were up there on a busy day.

Coming down tonight, I had the ABS fully kicked in and the truck was still accelerating down the lower asphalt section. I was as close as you can get to dropping my rig in the ditch before I had it all handles. There was only a half inch of snow, but it freezes to the road and acts like ice.

Utah search and rescue had a truck / enclosed two place and they parked at the bottom of the asphalt and rode their machines up. You could see their tracks where they tried to get up, but it was too slick. I have no idea how they got turned around and they were on their machines when we saw them and they didn't stop. One of the had a metal detector? Hope everything's OK.

Anyway, I'll let you know the next time we go out, we usually have room in the truck or trailer. Farmington is a fun place to ride, but almost everything is off camber and we ride a lot of thick thick trees. Your sort of land locked, so we don't really ride to get anywhere, we just ride and mess around the whole time. Its even more limited when you strickly stay off the steep slopes like we did today!

Where you driving the white ford?

A little bird told me someone busted through the snow and ended up in a river yesterday.

I was driving a white Ford GO ARKANSAS! (The Ark banner came with the truck)

We didn't poke through the river though, just had a great ride! I assume you were driving the silver Durango?

I did poke through 3 feet of snow on the beaver dam with one foot getting a little wet. I guess we were just riding on 3 feet of snow with no ice???

Regardless, i'm going to try and get out again somewhere tomorrow, just might be up there again.
