Here's the deal. Got conned into a fantasy football pool here at work. I know football and the game, just never played the fantasy stuff.

They are signed up on CBS's website, and playing the basic designed league. Any help as to who you should pick? QB first or RB? Which ones for this year????

Hoping someone on the forum plays this stuff, would be funny to get suckered intot his group and take their winnings andnot have to play next year haha....

Thanks in advance

It really depends on how your league scores points - but most leagues RBs are drafted first.

I've actually had decent luck the last few years with FOX sports player rankings (free on their website) - I build a spreadsheet a few weeks before the draft with a different tab for each position, and an 'overall' tab as well. I take the laptop (or printout) to the draft and mark things off as they are picked. Keep an eye on what the other guys needs are and what they have picked so far, not just on your own roster.

go to sites like si.com and look in their fantasy section... they will have mock drafts set up based on past years numbers for the most part. From there you can build a list like tmk is talking about and you're all set! if you want to get into some research for later rounds, read the training camp reports done by the si.com guys and they'll give you good feelers for sleepers to pick up in the later rounds.

It really depends where you draft, but typically you won't take a QB until round 5, maybe 4.

Draft Running backs first, then WR's. If you pick late you might get a WR a little sooner.

RB's are by far the hardest to find. So many teams are using 1-3 running backs which make fantasy football tough. The single back systems are far and few between.

Find out if you are doing an auction style draft or a rotational style draft. That will make a big difference in your draft strategy.

Then just like everyone else has said do some research and make a list of your top 7-8 players for every position.

If its a rotational style draft basically just take the best player when its your turn. Generally draft order goes RB's, QB's / WR's, TE's, K's - Def.

In an auction style draft there is going to be a cash value for each player and you need to make sure to budget. Dont get suckered into over-paying for any one player or paying to get the "big star" you'll be screwed for later rounds. Remember your building a TEAM.

Our league has done the auction style for the last 4 years and I like it alot more. It adds another strategy element to things thats allot of fun. :beer;:beer;
