Family Riding Near Frisco

Taking the family riding Friday around the Frisco area and wondering where the best place might be.

Most of our riding as a family has been Rabbit Ears and Grand Lake and the kids are on trail sleds.

Something that feels adventurous but is extremely safe from Avalanches.

Thanks for the ideas,

T-Man

Ride behind the Breck golf course. Left at light when heading towards Breck. Go a few miles back to trailhead. A rental agency operates there forgot the name.

I take my family to Vail Pass and head as far from parking as possible. Not much traffic once you get a few miles back towards Vail.

Check out Coloradodirectory.com. You can look at snowmobile trails, maps, ratings and access. There are groomed trails on the Breck side that go up to Georgia Pass. The trails on the Breck side are maintained by Good Times Adventures. Do not ride down the Jefferson side, no maintenance and trails are blown in.

suggestions

Thanks! We actually live on the 285 side and ride Georgia over to Goodtimes but were looking for somewhere new. How is the Vail Pass Area? I have heard there is a trail that goes to Red Cliff where you can have lunch which sounds fun but not looking for just a jeep road. We enjoy riding in meadows at Rabbit Ears and was hoping on finding some nice safe meadows to play in that may not be all tracked up.

Thanks,

T-Man

On Vail pass, most of the meadows by Lime Creek or Turkey creek roads (N end of the area) are usually pretty tracked up.
There's a nice restaurant and bar in Red Cliff, new a coupel years ago. Great fish tacos. More powder/meadows down towards Camp Hale.
EIther place, Vail or Georgia Pass would be good for the kids.

I was just at Vail Pass last sunday. It has its tracked areas but still plenty of off trail and fresh snow( I rode untracked powder all day). Real good conditions and the area has trails, meadows and scenic areas. Normally quite bumpy on the way down to Redcliffe. Probably one of the better closeby areas for all around riding.

T-man,

Georiga pass/north fork/middle fork/south fork is located off of route 9 headed toward breck. You turn on Tiger road not tiger run! The parking area is on the right a few miles back. There is only a few miles of groomed trails.

How many people are in your group? Im going to be headed to vail pass from frisco at the conoco/ wendys tommorrow around 10ish. We are just going to go out and casually ride off the trail looking for pow staches.

let me know if you want to join in!
