Fairview Shootout - April 5th

linderman, orlan black?,

Im all for the race bowl ive only been once to the shootout and it was 3 or 4 years ago when it was at the parking lot since the weather was crappy, "fairview whiteout"

I would love to see the TREX back in action along with what dustin james, shane stanger and all the rest of the turbo two strokes have for this year!

My favorite year was 2002 I believe. Mark Clawson had that sled that didn't even look like it would run with a big triple and lots of nitrous, and he laid the smack down.

Lots of big triples that year, and great weather.

The snowkites usually stay over on the "bunny-hill"; there is the other hill that is north-facing that is quite a bit bigger than bunny-hill, but not as big as race bowl. It is in the same canyon as bunny hill. That is where a lot of the races went down last year. I'll post a picture from google of the "new-hill" later tonight.
I'm not advocating new-hill, I'm just trying to see where everything is going to happen so that we don't have two racing locations

Yeah, good times, I think the last blue bird day we had for the shootout was April 8th 2000. That was also the last year the shootout wasn't on conference weekend........maybe not this year but in the future, RMSHA has there last race the weekend after Jackson, maybe the second weekend in April will bring even more big iron and great riders to the show? :face-icon-small-win

I'm all for the race bowl if someone can knock that cornice down. Sleds have gotten way faster in the last few years. The biggest thing is we need to have one race hill and keep it safe.
Doc

I think the reason people didn't go back to race bowl was becasue of the lack of snow. Rocks kept people away. We went back to race bowl and there weren't that many people there so we just went back a few more bowls and had some fun that day.

I haven't even made it back to the bowls cause we have had such great snow this year. We've been riding closer to our cabin. How's been the Avy danger back there this year? I know the cornices are huge where we normaly ride. We can't even get out this year where we have never had a problem before because the cornices are along the entire hill.

Any ideas on how to knock it down safely?

We'll be pulling in on Friday with the Hauler in tow again this year. I dont care where it goes down. Just pick a spot and lets get it on!

Doc issue with the cornice is valid. Its not that it is going to fall on ya (if it did it would suck) but there is no run out at the top. So ya wind up all the turbos just to hurry and shut em down. I kinda like the "new" hill but since Im sport ting the mighty 6 Im just a cheerleader, that said..If the Trex is there Im betting he is the fastest (little finger to corner of mouth Dr. evil voice) I dont know why ha ha ha!

Here's my version of a map of the area:

You guys make me giggle... trying to organize this ahead of time is like herding cats, dang near impossible.

It'll happen however it happens. The real mountain sleds will go to race bowl and determine a winner and the Sally sleds will stay close to the parking lot so they can retrieve more nitrous or charge their battery.

Oh woops, I got smacked last year for using the term Sally.

well in most years past, the weather was the deciding factor to make the trip back to race bowl or not.

Im assuming if the weather is chitty agin like usual then it will probably go down on the bunny hill.

The problem with Race bowl is that some people and I wont name names but some of you know who Im talking about, dont know when they have lost a race. So the faster sleds get to the top slows down and turns out while another racer stays on the gas longer to try and prove something and collisions are possible. Ive seen it happen and its not pretty. I prefer the hill we raced on last year because its fairly long and you can go over. But Im fine with whatever. Bunny hill is only an option in a total white out. Partial white out would send it to last years hill and sunny day I will just follow the crowds. That is if I make it ;)
