Ok,

Well my wife's 06 M6 starting pulling a code for exhuast temp sensor when above a certain speed and under hard acceleration, we have 2400 miles on it. I went an purchased a new sensor and that lasted 1 day before completly failing and pulled a code all day long no matter what speed we were at, even at idle. I cleaned up the original sensor and installed that, no code at idle, but I have not ridden it at trail speeds (I suspenct it will probably fail with hard acceleration or above a certain speed). I think the new sensor I got was a lemon, but want to make sure I dont have another problem going on here. The only code I get to flash is the Exhaust Temp sensor, 7 flashes of the check engine light

FYI: Funny thing is that the sled runs really well, doesn't miss a beat from idel to WOT, just keeps pulling this code?

Thanks for your help!

John

Is it 7 flashes, or is it 1 flash, with a pause, followed by 7 flashes. If it is only 7 flashes that means that there is an open or short circuit in the throttle position sensor.

If it is 1, followed by a pause, then 7, then it is the sensor.

exact same thing happened on my 07 m6, was flashing the code but it didn't effect performance, i bough a used sensor off of a f5 from ebay, put it in and no codes since.i could have left it as is flashing the code but i got sick of people riding my sled and saying something is wrong...haha

I believe it is only 7 flashes, but since the sled runs fine and the code goes away at idle with the original pipe Temp Sensor I am still thinking the pipe sensor. If the TPS was shorted or open circuit there is no way I could ride 100 miles and have the sled feel almost perfect right? I figured it would go into limp mode when a TPS fails.
