Face mask under helmet? What is the best one?

New to snowmobiling this season so my wife and I are in need of some mask to wear under our helmets. We both are going to use our motorcross helmets so not sure if one style mask works better then the other. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I don't wear one unless it is really cold. With the helmet I just get too warm. I know a lot of people that do and when I do wear one I wear the Klim Balaclava

I see they also have a heavier version: The Covert Balaclava

Klim makes quality gear and you will be happy with them

Being that we're new I just assumed that having a motocross helmet would allow a lot of cold air in. Good to know that it needs to be really cold out or we'll get to hot. Where we ride it rarely ever gets below zero. So I think I'll try with out first.

I use a motocross helmet too... and when i wear a mask i tend to fog up my goggles bad... If it is really cold i will cover my helmet vents with a little tape...

I have the breath deflecter that velcrows to the nose of the helmet. I have been trying to find it on WPS web. page but not having any luck. that helps me with the fogging and takes even more wind off of my face.

I have been using the fog evader for over 10 years and never fog. Only if I overheat with too many layers after a dig out. I get new lenses each year and treat them right only using a chamoise type cleaning cloth. I wear a cheap Polaris helmet and pro grip goggles. I'm going to try the 509 helmet with the breath deflector and sinisters this year. Reason for the switch I'm bored with the helmet and my goggles are on their last legs. Hopefully I will like the setup and no fogging issues. If I fog I'll take the nose piece off the 509 and go to the fog evader and no worries.

I wear a neoprene ski mask on the cold days, nice tight fit doesn't ice up and get wet like the cloth face masks. Have never had a goggle fogging issue. Most of the time i just wear a light balaclava

I must be a wuss, I wear one unless it is really, really warm out. When we have to ride the trail to and from the truck couldn't imagine having any bare skin. Under Armour makes a nice face mask.

Thin fleece balaclava (I wear TurtleFur) and a NoFog neoprene mask under a MX style helmet.

I am warm and fog-free down to -20

I ride in cold temps(-65f.)..far from any warm areas such as houses and such...the best I have found by far..is a product called turtle fur..you can get it soaking wet, frozen solid..but you will be warm under it..allways...they make 2 styles..a medium weight one peice balaclava and a 2 layer one that is paperthin on top and super thick down aroundyour nose to your chest..I use both depending on conditions..by far the best stuff I have found for face protection...

grow a beard. problem solved...for you...

personally i just wear a thing that just goes around my neck, it's like the bottom half of the baclava without the itchy part that goes under your helmet, but you can pull it up around your neck and the front of your face if you choose...i think i got it at a ski shop
