F$CK american racing!

So I've got a cracked weld sidewinder wheel. Weld racing got taken over/bought by American Racing some time after I bought my wheels. Now American racing is telling me there's nothing they can do for me. They give me all sorts of reasons such as, the wheel is out of production, we're not responsible since it was before we owned weld racing, sorry dude too bad, etc. They won't offer me anything, it's not like I've asked for a new set of wheels, but maybe they could look around their dealer network for a sidewinder that might be out there? Or maybe offer me cost or close to cost on a set of wheels since that's pretty much my option right now if I want a set of four matched wheels.

Nope, after numerous conversations with people at American racing all I got in response was "sorry" "sorry there's nothing I can do". Same answer no matter what I said to the guy. Then he hung up on me, I called back and called back and called back, he kept hanging up. finally He picked up again and we had a conversation for a few more minutes. Keep in mind I never got beligerant, I spoke to him as a becoming more and more annoyed customer, never once did I yell or even swear at him over the phone. Guess what, he hung up again. Now that's customer service people!

Don't you think maybe, just maybe they'd want to keep me on their product, telling people how much I like they're wheels? Guess word of mouth isn't very important to them anymore so here I am telling you how they feel about my and your opinions on their product. They don't give a F$CK. Apparently they must be selling enough wheels that one angry customer doesn't matter to them.

Finally a couple hours go by and Perry from american racing calls me back. He's a different guy than I talked to previously. He managed to find a number for me to call at they're warehouse or sales office or somewhere. who knows cause guess what, I called them all day long today and the phone just rang, no answering machine, no person, nothing.

Way to go American racing, I'll buy a set of wheels from you....

I wouldn't be so mad but they didn't even so much as lift a finger to try and help me out. Never have I experienced customer service this terrible.

Heh, try dell tech support if you want terrible service.

Agreed, customer service is a big reason i'll go with one company over another.

New American Racing Warranty Policy
American Racing is pleased to announce its' new warranty policy for all brands associated with American Racing. We are consolidating our current policies to meet industry standards. American Racing tests its products to the highest quality standards; which includes SAE and VIA/JWL standards. The new policy is designed to offer our customers the best possible guarantee of quality assurance and customer service in the automotive aftermarket industry. In addition, we anticipate that this policy will make it easier for you to do business with American Racing in the future.
Effective immediately, pursuant to the terms of the agreement under which American Racing acquired the assets of Weld Racing, warranty claims relating to Weld Racing products purchased prior to September 28, 2006 must be referred to the Weld estate at 816-292-8881. American Racing did not assume responsibility for these warranty claims and will not be honoring warranty claims for Weld Racing products acquired prior to September 28, 2006.

First, I don't agree with them not taking over responsibility. They bought the company and the company comes with people, knowledge, money, etc... All good things, but I believe it should come with the responsibility to honor warrantys that the company had in it's past for it's past product. If you take over a company, you take over the whole thing. Not just what you feel like.

Whether that matters or not to you, I'd still think that they'd want to at least make an effort to help me out somehow. It's really easy for me to go buy wheels from some other guy than from them. Like I say though, keeping one customer is obviously not important to them.

Can you weld it? I work in the industry and we see it all the time, wheel companies will not warranty if the wheels has taken a impact!!!! And they always tell us to sent it in and theyll look at it! And 99% of the time they say its not the wheels fault! No warranty! But i'll look tomorrow for the 1 800# and post it for ya!

i wish i had custome rims:confused:

20" chrome Rockstars if anyone wants to donate a set:D

I can't get them welded if I want to continue using discount tire. They said they won't work on a repaired aluminum wheel. How do they decide if the wheel has impacted anything? I haven't smashed into anything with these wheels, these wheels haven't even seen a loaded truck to be honest. They've lived a good life under a 2500hd.

Same thing happened to a guy here at work with his weld rims.
He started loosing air in 1 tire... Broke it down and it was cracked.
A local shop said they could weld it, but because it was on a diesel truck they would not stand behind the repair.
He ended up buying new wheels and tires.
My stonecrushers have held up well.
Finding relieable 16.5 tires has been a completely different story altogether.
At the moment my stock tires and wheels are on my lifted truck.

Johnny - thanks for the number. Who's at the other end of that number?

I got a number off the weld racing site and called them. Something about calling for wheels purchased before the buyout. The lady who answered the phone didn't even let me tell her about my wheels. She basically told me to go pound sand right off the bat. Then told me to call American racing, thanks lady...

I got a set of A/R wheels with the chrome falling off of one. They basicly told me to pound sand, even ofered to pay for some of the wheel (cost). They won't cover wheels that were drivin on a gravel road. Asked them why they would sell chome plated wheels for a 4x4 truck then, and they told me that most trucks don't go off the pavement! I will never buy so much as a lug nut from that company again!
