Expo @ Yellowstone

Honestly, the Expo has gotten disapointing and from what I've heard several people have the same thoughts. I'm guessing Polaris probably has the same feeling, so instead of setting up a big display, they chose to send some sleds and set up at Polaris West.

They actually now take their whole display to the dealership in west.

Yes it is sad to see west keep getting smaller each year, wish they could do something to get things turned around. Taking sleds this year we can do something other than hang around in town.

It's because West Yellowstone is charging more and more every year for the manufacturers to be there. The price has gone up considerably. They aren't running it correctly. You will see less and less the next couple years there. Theres even a chance that none of the big 4 will be there soon. If they want to bring it back and keep it healthy they need a new strategy.

They perceive the opportunity is just too small for the cost of going to West. OEMs now have social media, internet, and a handful of RMSHA, ISOC events to intro new models for snocheck, and fall events are more effective for the aftermarket, and less to pull peeps into the expo event. West is much less of a winter sledding destination than it used to be, with more of it closed down each year. Just not compelling for the expense and conflicts.

The sled world has a big problem with "trade shows".

Every other sporting good industry I partake in (all of which are bigger than mountain sledding btw) there are only a handful of tradeshows *worldwide* in a year.

I don't blame Polaris or any other manufacturer for steering clear of most of these shows. Its a big resource "suck" with not much in the way of a real payoff.

Its a dying event and honestly most guys have hit the nail on the head. It used to be THE place to see new models, now with majorly staggered release dates and SO much quality content available online it really makes no sense to haul a semi and pay people to be in West all weekend.

With the event loosing steam and Jackson hole gaining momentum I can easily see Jackson continuing to grow as an 'event and trade show type deal'.
