EXPO 2014

Anyone at Expo now???
Would like to know if it is worth driving 265 miles each way tomorrow (Saturday) to see?
Last time there I was disappointed in the show.
Thanks

I'm not there, but, if you've been there done that, with the price of gas and your time has to be worth something, why would you take a chance on someone's opinion if it's worth it. Like they say, the definition of stupidity is trying the same thing over and over expecting different results. JMO. Go ride instead!

It wasnt very spectacular. Very few dealers, pretty much just showing off the new sleds.

I might check that out. I haven't been to those climbs for 20 years and I'm sure a lot has changed. I went to West Yellowstone with the intent of spending a good bit of money but couldn't find anything I even slightly wanted.

I've heard rumor that they're pulling the plug on West Yellowstone and maybe moving it to Reno, NV for next year.

Looks and sounds like I saved my money by not going.
Sure wish it was like it was several years ago when you could hardly walk thru what with all the vendors and people.

They have run everyone off for the last several years, strange for the proclaimed "capitol" of snowmobiling. Think they would be a little more receptive etc.

IMO the town isn't supporting the Expo. My first time to the Expo was in 2011 and hardly anything was open for business.

Used to go every year and say about 07/08 there was a downward spiral and it keeps getting worse. Would book rooms over the weekend and ride all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday to much going on in town.
Was great for town $$ wise. Seems vendors were under appreciated (by event) and stopped going..so did the people.
Was a time it was fairly reasonable to stay versus drive up and back...then the bigger hotels started $$$$ and it just isn't worth it!
Hell since when do you have bike clowns at a SNOW show...when Ski Doo brought boats and that fancy tricycle.. I'd miss it except Hillclimb gets better and better!!!

Expo started dying when the Feds choked sledders out of the park. Everytime new regs come out that poor town dies a little more. It is so sad really.

There is a lot of things they could do to make expo fun and exciting again. Bring in some bands, lower admission costs, get the racing stuff back, have racing for local classes (sign up and race). IMO there needs to be a hand off from the old to the new and let the new make it fun and exciting again instead of being set in their ways.

There are so many hotels in west now you can find really good deals in the winter, so you cannot say hotels are too $$$.

Also there is really really good riding around west yellowstone. lions head, two top, blacks canyon, big sky trail all have amazing terrain with great snow.

I don't think it is price of admission. Maybe now but you had the expo and the races. I used to love going to watch Morgan and Hibbert duke it out. I don't know what they did to get the pros not coming but that was mistake no. 1. I have all sorts of buddies that told me they just kept raising sq. ft. price so they bagged it. They got greedy I guess. The town hasn't been the same since they got most of the sleds out of the park. I go to the snow show in boise or salt lake every year. If they could get the show like that with reasonable square footage plus the pros racing there again it would turn around in a minute. Maybe they could get businesses to donate some to keep the square ft price down. Cops that weren't pricks would help too.

Yes you can find decent deals at some hotels and used to be able to find decent meals!!
The park sled thing had a small impact on every border town,West adapted as some others.
As stated above it just seems the C.O.C. in town doesn't care and it's sad...Used to be a hell of a show!
