Explain A Two-Wheel Kit

Can someone explain in brief what a 2-wheel kit does? I have an '07 M1000/162. Does it eliminate two of the 4 rearmost wheels (inner? outer?) on the skid so as to allow the track to flex more and improve traction during sidehilling? Drops a little weight I guess.

What are the performance pros and cons? Seems like a big G hit on the rear skid might stress only two rear wheels. Thanks!!

With a two wheel setup you only run the inner wheels. It helps rolling the sled over. Haven't had a issues with mine.

leans over much easier, drops weight, no problems over 1000 miles. I couldn't switch back a hill very well with my 07 m1000 162, now I can easily but some of that may be due to the new tunnel and track.

'07 M1000 Tunnel Replacement

Thanks WyoBoy1000- Tunnel replacement? That sounds like major work. Do you really mean replacing the entire tunnel or just the riveted extension? What did you replace the stock tunnel with? I've heard of guys cutting out the end 2 feet of the foot rails like on the newer Ms ('09 and '10). Would this greatly improve trenching problems which is what I presume this change helps with? If I did this to my '07 and added the the foot kicker straps would the tunnel still be strong or would it need reinforcement along the bottom edge or elsewhere?

Also, I've seen '07 and older foot rails swiss-cheesed to replicate the newer Ms. Also seen aftermarket open-style replacement foot rails....look beefy. Do the openings really make it easier to shed the buildup in deep powder or do the holes make it worse? I only get buildup behind my feet and a quick kick fixes it. Seems like just a way to shave a few ounces than really be practical. Comments?

Also, is the new, single-ply track (power claw) really all it's cracked up to be. That would be a $900 or so dollar upgrade for my '07. Isn't there something to be said about the challenger 2-ply as far as longevity, installing ice cleats, etc. I got the 1000 motor because I didn't want to spend $Ks leaning on an 800. Yet it still seems that most go for the 800? Can't figger it out. My M1000 stock is plenty for this old fart!!!

WyoBoy1000 didn't replace the tunnel- he has an 09' M1000. As far as the track question goes i don't know about longevity yet but i love the track. The other weekend a fairly new (200 miles) 09' M1000 153 with slp can, was keeping up with a cutler 1000 156 camo extreme, for the most part. It seemed to me that a lot had to do with the hookup the stocker was getting :)

I have a 09 with stock tunnel, it doesn't drag when your trenching and makes turning out easier, also in deep snow when you take off it gives you more clearance to get going.
I have heard you can get the powerclaw for around $500, who ever told you $900 is ripping you off (bend over) I wouldn't buy anything from them.
Yes it may be the best change on the 09 sleds. I have slp pipe, bd box, bdx intake, bdx oil delete which have all made this sled rip. But I had all that on my 07 m1000 and my 09 m1000 stock would beat my 07. The powerclaw is the last thing I would give up, its boondocking capabilities are the best I've ever had.

2 wheels better than more

The 2 wheel kit allows the track more flexibility when turning, whether u are boondocking around trees or sidehilling, it offers more sideways bite into the snow
