hey guys/gals

anyone purchase the 8" RSI grips and installed them before?
I have the heating elements, grips, bar ends and mountain bar coming

on my old sled, i used the OEM Ski Doo grips, and they got jammed half way on the bar!
had to hammer them on w a impact socket and hammer

these grips are flexible, but once you apply the goop to keep them on, was it easy to slide them over the bar end, and then over the heating element?
they have some good instructions on the web, but it just says install grip (no tips) - or is it that easy???

i am installing them on a set of Renthal 7/8 bars

thx for your time!

I installed RSI grips last year and they went on good. Used spray paint to hold mine on. The paint works so they slide on easy and once it drys they are stuck.

We have installed two sets of the RSI 8" grips this summer. They are really nice. A little thicker than the stock grips that were on the sleds. We just used prep-all and poured it in the grip. They slide right on. The prep-all dries really fast and the grips don't slide around. You can also remove the grips if you need to down the road doing it this way, they aren't permanently stuck on the bars.

did you slide them over the bar hooks too?

Spray paint, hair spray or grip glue all serve to lube the grip while you put it on and dries to hold it on. move quickly though.

I also personally use the air method but if you don't have a compressor the others are your best option.

I'm also about to install some new grips and heating elements soon. So, this compressed air method works with slipping the grips over the elements also? What is to keep the grips from not slipping once moisture gets in there if you don't use glue, hairspray, etc...? Inquiring minds would like to know.

I use Permatex Hi Tack on my grips, seems to work fine and I always have it around anyways!

I used an air compressor to install the 8" grips over the RSI bars and elbows. It is silly easy - takes about 10 seconds to put the grip on and 10 seconds to take it off. It also stays put when you ride. I have never had a problem with them coming off/moving.

It might be time to invest in a cheap air compressor. Pulling a skid with an impact wrench, blowing your clutches to get as much dust off them, installing grips :), all very handy with a compressor close by.

Yes they are slid over the bar hooks too. I got new bars and the RSI bar hooks. The RSI bar hooks are the same diameter as the handle bar and they fit great. My buddy has stock polaris bars and bar ends, the bar ends are bigger diameter than the bar and the grips fit fine over them to.

wanted to report back here after the install
I borrowed my dad-in-laws compressor and YEP - easy as pie to install grips this way
worked like a charm

the RSI grips?? ARE AMAZING!
wow do they feel great and super tacky
RSI makes some qualtiy stuff dudes/dudettes
couldnt get the backcountry bars like i wanted, as my dealer said they were backordered
so i settled for the Pro Taper Contour Pastrana ATV Bend (fat bar - 1 1/8" clamp)
teamed up w the PowerMAdd 6" Riser, 1 1/8" adaptor and RSI tapered bar ends

turned out pretty sweet
