What is the deal with the “oil breather” (or whatever it is) that is zip tied to front crossmember, and is dumping oil spluge in to the bottom of the belly pan?

what is it?
can it be relocated to drip outside of the belly pan?

That is the line which goes to the solenoid which enables the actuation of the exhaust valves. Yes it can be moved. I routed mine to the left hand side front shock, there is a rubber grommet on the backside of the shock that it fits through. It eventually makes a bit of an oil mess on the shock but that is easily cleaned.

On my sleds I run the hose out through the rubber plug behind the top of the shock. Just drill a hole in it. Then zip tie it to the shock. Make sure you don't go so tight that it is pinched tight. I have a few oil drops on the a-arm after the season but it is easier to clean than under the hood.

Not sure but I would think you should be concerned when re-routing this hose with at least 2 things.

One would be freezing-thickening of the goop at a stop or plugging with snow-ice in use. The other would be whether the ID of the hose extension is important.

Like I said not sure because I have never put my finger on the end lol while open and running. I did read something on the solenoid about 13 psi. Don't know if it has a check valve or pop-off pressure besides just an opening function??
If 13 psi is approx. pressure (less than 1 atm.) then that is not much to blow through a plug of goop or snow. If it is an important #, then I was concerned about pressure restriction by adding 400% to the length of that hose lol.

I do know if the valves don't open when they are supposed too, besides performance loss-running problems, it would create a dangerous lean condition.

So for those reasons I used a big ID hose for extending and left it in front of the muffler laying on the pan making sure it has no bellies to collect mung lol.

Anybody know the pressure at the end of the hose when it first starts to open?? Pressure at WFO??

Sometimes simple things are simple, sometimes not lol.

.

3rd Pro in 2 years to get the re-routing mod and no problems. I do have it exit behind the shock though to keep it protected.

Extened mine out the bottom right next to where the exhaust dumps from the can, no problems freezing off.

Any Pictures? I checked my Pro and am awainting its arrival. This is my first pro ride chassies, i will be very upset if i got a bunch of oil in the engine compartment. Did not know this was an issue. thanks guys.

There was a post on here a while ago about that line. I ran mine along the front cross member and put a hole right in front of the exhaust pipe but behind the snow shield. No oily mess at all.

On the IQ Dragons, some people were plugging of the vent lines to the selenoid. No more mess and the exhaust valves open earlier like the pre-EPA sleds... don't know if this is a good idea on the Pro engine though. Have to leave the selenoid hooked up or you get a code.

lorne,
did you put a 90* fitting at the end of it and put it through the belly pan?

for those of you who have extended the line, did you just replace the line entirely or splice another piece onto the existing?

I did that on an 08 to test things out and it ran like crap. Didn't change the valve springs, just capped the lines to see the affect... crappy running after that. So I hooked them back up.
