exhaust upgrade questions.

I am thinking about upgrading my stock system on my 04 duramax.

I am not a fan of the monster sizes. I think it's for the one's with alot of work done. I tow an travel trailer in the summer so I am looking to help my temps/fuel economy. I have a programmer Hypertech It came with the truck when I bought it.

I don't want to spend a ton of money. I know the big names cost quite a bit but anybody have a better idea?

Up here in AK it's rough finding a reliable place that will do work that lasts.:beer;:beer;

I put an MBRP 4" exhaust system on my 2005 Duramax and have been happy with it. I like the sound and the system is much less restrictive than the stock system. Installation was very easy and straight forward - I installed it in my driveway in about two hours. I also saw a drop in EGT's with the new system. I would recommend it.

MBRP is a great exhaust. I sold a couple 5" and 4" turbo back systems to friends and they love them, I also had a 5" MBRP turbo back exhaust on my cummins which opened her up. If your looking for affordable you may want to look into Diamond Eye Exhausts, they are very affordable and available in 4" and 5" turbo back systems. You probably don't need anything larger than a 4" for your pickup with what a few mods you have and you'll definitely notice it.

Thanks for the Information you guy's.

I agree I don't think I need anything bigger than 4"

My big concern is the temps, and fuel economy during pulling.:beer;:beer;

if your not worried about the flashy expensive names, i'd check out ebay. theres some pretty good deals on exhaust on there. a few months ago i found a set of stainless 4" duals for a dmax for $300 bucks. once in a while theres decent deals on the namebrand stuff to.

i stuck with my stock exhaust, although had a local exhaust shop remove the cat and muffler, putting in some straight pipe, real clean looking job quite happy. sounds good when your foot is in it,throttle response is noticeably better, fuel economy is supossed to improve, never checked though. and temps are supossed to decrease as well,don't have gauges yet to verify. best of all only cost me 175.00 taxes in...:beer;. p.s my truck is a 05 d-max pipe diameter is 3 3/4 in
