Im looking at getting an exhaust system from SLP for my sled, i know that you can run there single pipe kit without a efi box. BUT...i have a BDX intake on my sled already, do you think i can run the exhaust and that intake without a efi box? Or am i asking to wreck something?

you will definetly need a fuel controller with the bdx intake and slp pipe setup. Some people see some scary egt numbers with no fuel controller on just the slp pipe.

Since you are using a BDX intake already, most pipe mfgs will recommend a fuel controller. I have heard from numerous sources that the speedwerx pipe builds better power than the SLP without other mods. If you buy their pipe setup and email speedwerx the various mods you have done to your sled, they will email you back a fuel map with the various settings to load into your fuel controller to match your existing mods. They did it for me, its a piece of cake. If you decide to buy a fuel controller (which is a good idea anyway), I'd go with the Power Commander. Boondocker is attempting to charge too much for an upgrade to their latest version. (They want $318 plus my version 1 controller and cable set to upgrade to their latest version) I'm sure boondocker has many customers like me who say the upgrade charge is too high - so for now I'm gonna stay with version 1 which works fine anyway.

From what I heard the SLP setup can only be used at high elevation with no controller.

I decided to just run the can. Lost a good chunk of weight and picked up a little performance. Good sound but not too loud. No need to buy a controller, just pull and go.

I rode with a guy that has a 08 m8 full slp kit, he dosent seem to have any problems. Dont think he has a intake though. It seemed to run a bit better up top then mine.

Face it for what they are stock they still run dam good. I would rather save the money for a turbo

Nope they work fine at low elevations. At home im at 1500 ft and have had zero problems, last year they used to be advertised as 3000' and above with no fuel controller, but SLP did more testing at 0-3000' this year and it worked fine with no controller.

The slp pipe package works awesome, some will say you don't need a fuel controller but in my case anyways i did. You can try it but keep a close eye on your plugs at all rpm ranges, mine was fine at low rpm's but in the midrange and highrange it was way too lean. I have a timbersled intake and ride between 3500-7000 ft the way i look at it is the fuel management system will only add to the performance and keep the fuel delivery in the proper range through all rpm's, they are pretty expensive and may take some time to dial in but once its done at least you will have piece of mind. Run at least 91 octane with the package, JMT.
