Exhaust Bog?

Anyone else getting this? We have been getting pounded with snow lately in Wa. and I have ran into this issue more this week than in the last year owning this sled. Sometimes when I am carving hard and getting heavy on the throttle she bogs out (only when exhaust side is stuffed in) it got better when I ran gas with no ethanol, but are there any other options?
 
Last year we had all 3 of our PRO sleds do this. No fix that im aware of. Its rather annoying when it does it also. When deep i just try to keep the exhuast out of the snow.
 
check your throttle cable freeplay, spec is for less then .010" freeplay at the lever, any more then that can cause a bog when carving to the exhaust side(the way your hand puts pressure on the lever causes it )...at least that is what we have found on several sleds....
 
Experienced this power loss as well the last couple of days....only on right side when side hilling and such....but it was really deep.....I too, would like a suggestion on how to fix this.
 
pretty simple, extend the exhaust deflector another inch by rivoting on another piece of aluminum, bent to match the contour of the stock piece. I'm talking about out side of the belly pan in front of the exhaust exit.

mine did this last season..I did an impromtu test with some cardboard and ducttape..that didnt stop it..mine was the cable being loose..others have had injectors replaced to fix it, others exhaust sensor, others tps..just have to muddle thru and figure out which it is...
 
Here is another to add...mine did it regularly with the stock head in very deep snow. Most under a long full throttle pull or right at 6250. Naturally just like everyone else on the planet we assumed it was simply plugged the air pump either in or out maybe both. You just keep busy wiping the inlet and once in awhile you pop your nose out to clear the exhaust. Then I changed the head and it never stuttered like that again. They did a dyno test and stated that they could get it to lay down with the stock head under certain load conditions. Weird and sort of un-explainable from theory but the field tests seem to confirm that under some kinds of load the pump is failing. It can really suck bad and be expensive in the just the wrong spot! Most of the time it was just irritating to be stuck.

Snowrider, typically I am 100% behind your advice. That being said I cant disagree more on this one. If the snow is not rediculously deep I can turn hard right in exactly the same way and I wont get the bog, but as soon as I try this in overhood powder and shove the exhaust side in the snow it bogs 10 times out of 10, and as soon as I lean the exhaust side up so it can breath it get the power back.

What you are describing is the bog people get when they are in the mid range and try to go full throttle and get a bog. I also had that bog but the difference is that it would happen regardless of which way you are turning. I promise you this bog has nothing to do with that.

This is a tough one to describe to people, because not all riders throw their sleds around as hard as others. I described this to a friend who has a Pro and he said he never experienced it. Then he tried it on his sled after I showed him what I was doing to get the bog and his sled did the same exact thing. Not typically an issue for him though because he doesn't throw his sled as hard as I do.

I'm going to rivet an extension on my exhaust deflector. I will post a write up with pics ect.
 
boondocker..I was getting the same bog at eureka in deep snow with the exhaust buried, and I agree, it felt exactly like an exhaust bog, but when we got to the cabin I used a peice of cardboard and ducttape to extend the stock deflector another inch it didnt make a difference(maybe an inch wasnt enough?...) next trip at lost lake in deep snow it did it again and I had read on here that someone was having a cutting out issue that was fixed by the throttle cable being too loose..mine was pretty loose..so tightened it right there on the hill and that cured the exhaust bog.....hasnt done it since...most likely ther are many things that can be causing these bogs...for sure let us know what you find...
 
2011 or 2012? the 2012 exh deflector is longer. My stuffed exhaust last year wasn't due to throttle cables or TPS and such. Part throttle it wouldn't stuff. Part throttle moving to full throttle with the right amount of slight uphill transition from sidehill would promote the stuff. Also, SDI stuffs seem to not recover like old fashion carb stuffs for some reason, IMHO, YMMV.
