excessive & abnormal carbide wear

On my 06 900 SB with stock ski's and 2010 spindles . The ski carbides are wearing abnormally, from the ski pivot bolt FORWARD the stock carbides actually wore completely through the host bar, while the rest of the skag that's behind the pivot bolt was damn near 100% new. Its like all my nose weight is on the very front of the skis, which is making the carbides weare out extremely fast, I have 8" slim jims on it now and those ain't cheap so I gotta figure this out! My toe and camber are both correct, I have about 1" of preload on the front shock springs, rubber ski dampner pads are installed correctly, sled steers fine! Appreciate the help guys! Trail ridden, I cross roads I don't ridem! These skags should be lastin alot longer!a. Dano

Well, with 32" of carbide clawing the ground, I'd say the darting is eliminated! Wow! Yeah, you'll want to transfer some weight to the back. Where are the limiter straps set at? This is a rider preference kind of thing so you'll have to do some trials/adjustments. Between limiters, coupler blocks, spring preload, it's quite a change from stock. Good luck.

Sounds like you have your ducks in a row setup wise. Have you run these dually carbides before? Their carbide/skag orientation in the ski (design) maybe what is causing the excessive wear. Sorry to say it, but the dually maybe the problem in and of itself. JMHO Good luck

Even my stock single skags were wearing like this. When the skags are mounted to the ski the carbide material itself is not centered under the ski pivot. There's alot more carbide behind the ski pivot. My limited strap is shortened all the way up. Is it possible that I have doo much ski pressure that im transfering weight onto just the front of the skis???

look up bergtstrom skegs. On their web site they tell youn how to shim between your skis and your spindles for more rear of ski pressure.

Just call him if you want to purchase anything, though!!!! Scott Bergstrom is a VERY intelligent individual, but he's hard to get a hold of, he refuses to hire any kind of help, and he is SEVERELY backed up with orders...A++++ product, though!
