It's great, the competition thing going on between the 2 moto, Explorer, and the Snowhawk. It leads to evolution in each machine.
Adding my imput here. I see the 2 moto and the Explorer being great for the track type racing circuit. I also think in all fairness of competition that the snowhawk should be allowed to run with the pack in these races. Wouldn't it be better for the sake of competition, let the best man and machine win. We would then all know what works best consistantly for those track like conditions.
As for the two moto, explorer and Snowhawk in deep snow, mountainous conditions. Well its all in what you are into. If you want one machine for everything, a conversion type machine for snow or dirt. The conversion bike is for you.
But if you want a totally rad machine for snow, all conditions and by far the best beast on the mountain in my mine, then it's the snowhawk.
I personally do not see how you can shift fast enough in most mountainous conditions to make a conversion bike be that type of machine. It also would be hard to lay a conversion bike on it's side in deep snow, skid it on supersteep side hill and have it recover.
But with all of this said it's been quite and Evolution.
We now have a good group of guys making these machines better.
One has now put an 800Rev in a 600chassis. Jeff has sucessfully finished putting in a 550f into the 503f chassis, with many upgrades. Bud and Skip have been working on clutching.
Someone is talking about a tubular frame. Carbon fiber body parts are being made.
In the past two years there has been a big turn around in the sport.
HawkFest should be a blast with lots of machines to compare to each other and lots of ideas to bounce off each other.
It will also be nice for the Hawks to ride with the convertions in the steep and deep to see just how each works in those type of conditons.
