ever get your arm sucked up in the track

A buddy of mine and I were riding on some sawdust piles (closest thing to a good hill back home) one of the 100 or so times he jumped over the top, he tried to bail and got his foot sucked all the way up to the front torque arm mount of the skid (120 studs in the track too). This was all in mid air!!!! when he landed and machine stopped his foot was stuck so tight we had to pull the skid out of the sled to get him loose. He was way lucky no major damage to him but his bibs and boot were shredded.

A relitive to my fiance had his suck up by his sled. Unfortunetly he had studs installed for traction. This left him in the hospital with many surgeries and possible lose of his leg. He did not lose leg, but he is still undergoing surgeries to remove rods and screws. This happened over a year ago. This scared me into thinking what if you were to fall off your sled and have the throtle stick wide open with you in the track. This is why they make thether switches.

I believe some one here in B.C. lost a leg to a sled stuck in a tree well (nose first) with the throttle stuck wide open, I think it was even back in the bolt on plastic paddle days. I think the guy still rides with one leg.

Lots of speculation here...anyone who knows the Whole tale please feel free to correct me.

wear your tether

I had a close call.

I took Super uke's sled for a spin and was checking out a hill, while not looking where I was going. I ended up nose first in a creek bed going walking speed. I fell off the back if the sled, but my left foot got caught on the bars, while I was flopped over along the sides of the running board's right side.
My foot jammed up against his lefty throttle, and the track was spinning full throttle by my arm and head. It was pretty freaky.

I pulled the tether cord, luckily I had it on.

YUP! :D Secondary Protocol!

Nate,13 riders today and no broken bones or sleds..i'm gettin better

I wheelied over backwards on the crusty old 650 Indy years ago. Plastic paddles and when the sled come down it grabbed my arm. I still have a scar from my left shoulder to my right elbow...

Glad your grandson is OK.I got bucked off in 2001 and had my hand run thru the track. Two surgeries ,3 pins in my hand,13 weeks in a cast and lots of rehab as well as 3+ months off from work:face-icon-small-froAlmost good as new now.Stuff happens.Makes you a little more cautious but still gotta have fun, right?

Heck, at lesat ya got a good nap out of it at the end of the trail lol...

Doing a sidehill. fell out of it, sled started to roll, fell off the side of the sled, sucked my leg up in the track, at the knee. I had to get help to back the track up to undo my leg. I still have the dent in my leg 3 years latter. OUCH

Wow, it seems like this happens more than I though! Closest I ever got was falling off at high speed, getting my boot caught on the rack, and getting drug for 100 yards. I didn't end up in the track though. Be careful out there people!

Egg beaters

No but once i was looking at my moms eggbeater and thought i could hold them back from turning, So i grabbed a hold and hit the button ,man it sucked my fingers in between the two and wedged them apart and i could not get them released had to bend them apart boy did i lose some skin on that one(hey i was a kid )

That sure sounds familiar........I'd have to guess 15 years back, one of my friends had a little accident. He went over an embankment and fell off his machine. The machine slid down into the willows on it's side with the throttle stuck open. He slid down the bank right into the back of the sled. One leg got sucked into the tunnel. It shredded his leg down to the bone. They say the thing that saved him was that the heat from the track melted his arteries closed which helped him from bleeding out. He eventually did loose his leg from the knee down.
But yes, he can dance as good as I can, with the help of an artificial limb. And yes he still rides, last time i rode with him he was on his Cat 1000.

Sure you can't quit when sh1t happens, but it also shows you it only takes a few seconds for something bad to happen. Just a reminder to play safe.
