Eureka Lodge?

H
Just doing some research on where to go this winter. Never rode Eureka. Has anybody stayed at the lodge before and can vouch for there service? When is the best time to go? Also, if you have any other ideas about places to go fell free to post. I'm married with 3 kids, ages 9, 7, and 2. Looking at trying to stay for a week! Thanks

Eureka Lodge is a great place to stay. The owners are super nice and very good people. Eureka is a fun place to ride, but tends to be a hit or miss place. Riding conditions aren't very consistent. Seems to me Eureka is overdue for a great year, so hopefully this will be that year. Also, the riding is very family friendly. They have all types of riding, from family to extreme. Hope this helps.

Another recommmendation here too! My only comment would be that the beds have a lot of sag to them...you can even see the saggy beds in the pics on their website.

Eureka Road House is a great place, Jim and Darla are great people and their staff is really nice.

Ate and drank ALOT up there the last couple years because of work. Eureka burger is good, but for a good burger I prefer the Long Rifle lodge about 20 miles south. Their fries are better too.

Highlights at Eureka are the Rib dinner (HUGE meal for the money, my favorite), chicken fried steak breakfast with sourdough toast, and always have to have a piece of pie or cinnamon roll for the road.

Riding in Eureka is one of my favorite places to go because of the varried terrain. Snow has not been as good the last couple winters as in the past. When the snow is decent it is a great place to ride. Really well established groomed trail system for the wife and kids too.

Another spot that not many people know about is on the Kenai, a place called Heavenly Lodge. It's a huge place and you can rent the whole place for a weekend and if it's a good snow year, you can ride all the way to Lost Lake from there. It's located in Cooper Landing and they usually have lots of openings in the winter. Never stayed at Eureka Lodge but have ridden there a few times, like Trav said, it's wide open country and a good place to take the family.

Another endorsement for the Eureka Lodge, they have cabins as well as a couple of rooms inside the lodge that could fit the whole fam (a bit cozy for 5 though). If you are looking to stay a whole week, ya might have one challenge... Last year they were closed on Tuesdays. A rough couple of years for snow conditions and the business made it necessary to close one day a week.

Book in advance ~ 'cuz if it is a good snow year there ~ availability will be slim pickins.

Lets hope this is an epic year for Eureka ;)

I will probably be staying there then. Can't wait. Still have to finish working on the sled. How expensive is the dining, or should I try to bring some of my own food. Anybody have any ideas on how to save a few dollars? Thinking about bringing my own gas.

Eureka

Check out Farmers Cabins ,7 miles up the road from Eureka They have a big log cabin and quite a few smaller cabins on thier property Great trail between cabins and roadhouse. Plus its a lot more peaceful at night. A lot better then listening to the rowdies in parking lot. Just a suggestion

Another +1 for Eureka burger, its been over three seasons since I worked through that fine icy Eureka sugar snow.

Definitely worth the drive even for a day trip, just leave town a little earlier. Take your time on the road, the Seward highway should teach us all a lesson when we are banzai-ing down to turny this winter. The road to Eureka has the same potential to teach someone the hard way.
Either way, when the snow gods work in our favor, some of the best riding anywhere!

the burgers are great, as are Jim and Darla but I prefer the cabins 40 miles north...lol..there is some of the best riding in the state when they get snow...this is from the area around my cabin up above the little oshetna river.....

If i do anything else to my sled i might do the bdx tunell kit for the step up. but it looks like if i do that ill lose strength. and as for me driving. HAHAHHAHA I would have it no other way LMAO. Were taking my truck tho. :D 01 gmc serria:) my old toyota just dosent pull the same lol.

All is good man. No, I haven't had any money to do any mods. Maybe next summer. Job starts 1 September, but I will be down the weekend before looking for places.
