Ethanol setting

Ok lets hear who runs their sled in non Ethanol or 91 octane setting. What elevation are you running. I hear the higher the elevation you run the safer you are to run in 91. Lets hear your thoughts

The setting has nothing to do with octane rating, it is for ethanol or non ethonal fuel. You should be running 91 octane at all times. I guess if a guy rode at 9000+ feet you could get away with lower octane. I am fortunate to be able to get 91 non ethanol fuel around here.

Yes, I know it has nothing to do with octane. when you switch it over it say 91 non ethanol. So the question is mountain riders, what setting do you run?

I run mine in eth mode 0-2200' and 91none eth, 2200-5500' . Just to be safe. But I have done 40 km in 91 at sea level and no issues.. I could get my pro to det. At sea level . On 91 , the axys seams a bit richer.

I started out the first two days running mine on eth but I was using non-eth 91. I didn't know to change. I looked it up and changed the setting to non-eth 91 and I noticed a difference in performance. I'm running from 7000 - 10000ft. I have had no pre-detonation issues.

Put both the Pro and Axys in Eth mode for yesterday, mind you it was -23*c lol

what performance difference did you notice?
better or worse?

I ran on ethanol mode the first couple rides even though I was running 92 non. Switched to the non setting and didn't notice one single bit of difference

I've ran the pro's for years on the non eth setting and ran only 88 non ethanol fuel (it's what we can get). Never had a detonation in last 5 years doing this since the 11 pro.

I run the non-ethanol mode with ethanol fuel or 87 non ethanol fuel when I get it. In Colorado all pumps are ethanol.

The shell station in my neighborhood was bought by Fuel good and the only sell 10 percent ethanol fuel. Not too happy about it. I have to drive 30 miles to get non ethanol fuel. Only have two rides on my new sled and haven't changed the fuel setting.... but I can't imagine it running better than it has.

I ran mine between 8 and 10,000 feet with good 91 octane non eth fuel. I ran it on both settings and couldn't tell the difference. If you have any doubt at all I would run it on the Eth setting.

I run 90 octane non ethanol on the 91 non ethanol setting. No problem, no det light, etc. A lot of guys here buy 91 octane at Chevron and run it on the 91 non ethanol setting without any issues. They have tested the 91 octane from Chevron and found it to consistently contain 3% ethanol or less. I am still buying the non ethanol fuel but I am considering just buying the 91 octane at Chevron since it is cheaper and seems to be working for everybody using it.

All we can get here where I am is 91 ethanol added fuel. I have tested the ethanol content over and over (Job related) highest I ever see where we are is 3% I have always ran mine 91 non ethanol setting and never had a problem

The setting is about ethanol in the fuel. Not so much the octane rating. Even if you were running 88 if it's non-ethanol or sometimes called non-oxegenated, you'd want to run in non eth mode. Anytime you get ethanol blended fuel even if it's 91 octane switch to ethanol mode. At only 3% ethanol however you are probably safe in NON setting generally ethanol blends are 10 to 20% this is when you need the ethanol setting to avoid detonation.
