Ethanol Plug??

New to Polaris ( came from the A/C side :face-icon-small-sho)
Just picked up a new '10 Dragon 800. Dealer said to run the ethanol plug connected during break in then disconnect? Does it lean out or richen when connected? Just want to give the sled a fighting chance...

My dealer didn't say anything about using them for break in, but then again when I asked my dealer about the wires he didn't know what I was talking about, so I had to inform him on the wires. :face-icon-small-dis
To answer your question,
Plugged it is ethanol free mode= leaned out 5%
unplugged is fuel containing ethanol.= richened 5%
unplugging them richens it due to the ethanol(oxygen) in the fuel.

I myself have a 2010 8. And i would recommend a PCV for your machine.

I've just run mine unplugged mostly. Plugged it in for a little bit and didnt notice any huge difference in the butt dyno, and didn't see any tach changes... I think it'd would like more fuel in most my riding anyways, seems lean enough for me in most spots.

For now I've just decided to leave it uplugged for a little extra safety.

Thanks guys. Yup think I'm going to leave it unplugged for safety's sake, and waiting to see if a buddy is upgrading to a pro so I can scoop his PCV from him, as he said it is a different connection so that particular box won't work one the pro's? Not sure but if i can save a few bucks may as well !

Does anyone know where this plug is exactly? A photo or diagram perhaps? My 700 seemed a big lean my last ride and was scaring me a little. Same thing for a 700 I assume? Thanks.

And just to confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt: unplugged is stock and also that having it unplugged means that you are running ethanol or non-ethanol fuel?

Thanks

unplugged= fuel containing ethanol
plugged in= Fuel containing NO ethanol

The idea behind it is that it makes everything 5% leaner (if plugged in)
and 5% richer (unplugged). Due to the fact that some gas "may contain up to 10% ethanol" so having them unplugged is to counter the ethanol(oxygen).

Hope that makes sense.

Good. Point form - that I can understand.:face-icon-small-win Thanks.

What is factory default? I would imagine it would be plugged in.

Oddly, mine is unplugged. That might explain why I fouled a plug once this season. Wierd that my plugs are now too lean... :face-icon-small-sho

I don't have these wires to plug/un-plug on my 07 600 CFI in that location. Have they been added in recent years or is it because I'm in MN and Polaris automatically presets from the factory for ethanol containing fuels because of our state's mandate to have 10% in most pump gas here?

I found this "plug" in the wiring harness just to the clutch side of the fuel tank on my 2010 600 CFI4. To me, it looks like the plug that was supplied by Polaris for the 2011 Pro. I do also have the wires up by the clutch cover that I installed a water proof switch since I can't remember to plug or not.

Is this by chance a factory ethanol plug? I figured there had to be one somewhere.

08 and older don't have the ethanol option. I have an 09 and and running an 08 flash which makes the wires inactive from the computer.
