Ethanol Fuel

I've been told Canada fuel retailers will be adding 10% ethanol to all fuels. What effects does ethanol fuel have on turbo and nitrous engines?

Besides collecting water it does shorten life of 2 stokes per the state of utahs studies ... At the end of the day if you ride weekly I don't know if the effect is too much as long as you get you gas from reputable place

Ethanol is crap period its corrosive, absorbs water and doesn't have the same kick as non ethanol fuel. I would always treat your fuel to be on the safe side, also if your buying from a multi grade pump there is always residual fuel in the lines so that non ethanol grade (super) may have a few liters in it.

The question I always have though is do you get 88 without or 91 with ethanol if you are running though a tank a week at least

if your burn through the fuel you should be ok but I wouldn't let it sit for more than a week, and to be honest the price of a good fuel conditioner out ways the cost of rolling the dice I feel.

Been running ethanol in every one of my toys for many years now. I'm not going to pretend to be a fan of it, but the sky is falling approach most seem to have is a bit ridiculous imo.

I've got 3 2 stroke bikes, 3 2 stroke sleds, and I've put around 25,000 miles on snow since I started running ethanol, 8k of that being boosted at 12-14 psi, another 8 of it being very modded sleds otherwise.

While being boosted I tried many combinations of fuel, 100% av, 50% av, 25% av, 25% 110, 50% eth 91, 25% 110, 75% eth 91...

RIDE YOUR JUNK. IF you don't ride often, I can see the dangers of ethanol, but if you're not some wanker that rides 3x a year, I'm not buying the sky is falling stuff.

if I'm not going to ride a toy for a month or more, I add a bit of star-tron... but I'd run whatever folks say works I suppose, never had a problem.

My buddy races B-mods and he uses 90% ethanol. on the Dino he gets more horsepower it helps his engine run cooler but what's important to know is you have to have the right set up. 10% ethanol is going to have very minimal impact if any IMO.

Ethanol has its place. and again, reality is if your riding frequently and not letting fuel sit its really not a big deal. Tiny bit less BTU's per gallon then regular gas, but 10 to 15% transition in ethanol content is changing your overal fuel power deliver like 1%. Nothing the end user is going to notice AT ALL.

Don't let the gas sit in your tank for weeks on end, otherwise really nothing to stress about.

ding ding we have a winner

Gas just doesn't seem to last as long as it used to, both ethanol and ethanol-free. Anytime I feel the least bit worried I just quickly siphon my tank into a gas can and throw it in my car. Anything late 90's and newer eats it just fine. Hell, these new cars like my 2014 Ecoboost Fusion would probably run watery ethanol mixed with garbage just fine. New fuel systems are pretty robust.

One thing to note, all new sleds are supposed to run ethanol according to the cap and manual. Anyone know if the dirt bikes have done this yet?

This is what I do, the TDI seems to love the 32:1 I use in my sleds:face-icon-small-sho
