etec turbo versus 880bb

well last three days we have been riding in over the hood snow in cranbroke bc, fighting the timid temps, but up higher in the mountain, temps are sweet

have the 880bb and the etec turbo out each day, and swaped sleds many times..... i have had a blast with the 880 over the last five years and still have a blast with it, but this etec turbo is a different animial, its tq is so strong and just never misses a beat, spools quick and you can train yourself quickly on how to ride it, 7lbs boost is so sweet, almost everything a guy needs in the deep

snorkel has worked great in the deep snow and the last day we had a good running boondocker polaris turbo with us running 9 lbs, the etec turbo is just so much stronger and quicker...

really loving the etec turbo, now to loose some weight and find some nitros

i guess you where up lumberton? good to know theres finally some good snow!, i havent been out, but when i was out last about 2 weeks ago snow was horrible, or well, snow was just too hard making for easy going!,

but i hear them etec's that yeah for what ever reason they are another animal when you turbo them, and are becoming a popular sled to turbo

yes its the aerocharger, and tdr reeds are holding up great, we have had a few ses codes due to rave positions, but even with a code it runs very well...lol

yes we went to lumberton, there were a few landmines to watch, but none of us had done damage, and snow was real sweet,

the etecs are really loving boost and the di i thinks help in quick boost, the pros hessitaion was twice as long but it felt sweet as well once spooled, just not as sweet as the aero

its also great on fuel, hard day in the deep and maybe 30 liters, pro turbo was almost empty

the bd pro rider was suprized how well it ran with out a intercooler, he was having some issues with tunning, in the cold, but the aero was quick to tune in comparsion

will downloaded some video latter

Lets see some vids side by side... I am very interested in turbo E Tecs and would love to see some real world results against other properly setup turbos including a Nytro like you said.

Problem is your posts seem to be extremely biased towards whatever your riding. Some good videos would help.

Very true.I believe the turbo will be hard to beat on open pulls, In the trees technical the 880 will shine, Of course the turbo ownesr will tell you there No lag at all. .

as of now i dont have a video of both going up the hill together, but will have a guy next week running the 880 when we go out

what i can tell you i do my own clutching, and i know what i have in each for primary weights, and rode both sleds, the eturbo has three grams more pin weight and 1mm oversise rollers over my 880, tetec runs 7 to 12mph more track speed, and grabs rpm quick

here are a few vids but no comparsions side by side, just my assometer, and i still love the 880:face-icon-small-hap

the instant throttle responce of a high compresion big bore is great on hard pack and setup snow. in deep powder (you know, the good stuff :face-icon-small-coo) I really like the turbo. it has stock power for about a second. I think mine has more power and better throttle responce then a bone stock sled. obviously not as good as a higher compresion stock sled or big bore sled. Then it makes a crap load of power and takes off. So if you can train yourself or know that when you pin it it takes about a half second to a second to really take off the turbo sled is great in any situation. tight trees etc...
the lag (or stock power) is only if you have not ben on the gas for awhile. if you are in a climb and let off the gas and then pin it again within a few seconds the power is instant. let off the gas and the bov opens and allows the turbo to keep spining. pin it again and the bov shuts and instant boost because the turbo is already spooled.
Power is not comparable to any NA sled. Even at only 7lbs of boost it will run better then any NA sled. I ran 7lbs for a full year with premium pump and one gallon of 107mon fuel just incase the pump gas was not so great. At 10lbs their is no comparison. turbo sled will absolutly dominate and stomp the crap out of any NA sled. I ran 30% 107mon and premium pump all last year on that setup. unload at 5000', but I don't hold it pined for more then a few seconds at that elevation. Actual riding and any time I hold it pined for any length of time usually starts at about 6000'.

What is your 880 suppose to have for hp?? 180 tops?? I wouldn't think it would even be in the ball park with your Etec at 7psi. Your Etec should be around 230hp shouldn't it?

A full mod 880 will be around 190hp. BMP just dynoed one without bored carbs or high compression head @ 184.5

I will putt my aerocharged etec turbo at 7lb against any na big-bore at snowey range or sierras in any condition. I ride the trees or hills whatever your pleSure

i have it set on 7lbs boost, i run around a 50/50 blend, i could get away with around a 20/80 and even less after 5000 feet, but dont want to take the risk

the etec runs so effecient on fuel that you can afford to run higher octane

as for hp my builder ran a etec aeroturbo at 7lbs on his dyno that is stingy, and he ran it a a very safe 12-1a/f, he said it made 200hp, and a stock etec does 148hp on his dyno, a done up 880does 172hp for comparsion on the same dyno

from 12-1a/f to 13.3-1a/f has a big hp advantage so if i had to guess i would say in the 215 to 220 range, and this is represented in trackspeed as well

fred at 7lbs is this a pump gas, race gas, or av gas setup?? How much power output do you figure your at??
