Escaped just in the nick of time!!

Had a huge avalanche chase me off a hill on Friday. The video doesn't do it justice. I consider myself lucky!! It buried the exact spot I was standing when I saw it. The footage it pretty poor but you can see the dust from it going through the trees behind me.

I set it off and no one else was on the hill. A small handful of us had hit the hill a number of times. I had high marked and turned out above some trees. When i got off to pull a ski i saw it then got the hell out of Dodge. I am lucky i had an escaped route.

location: Whitney area by Gold Hill

600 feet wide

5-10 feet deep

Came down about 500 feet

I was at least 250 feet or more below the ridge line that broke.
