Wondering if the jackshaft and brake assembly from a Vertical Escape would bolt onto an Edge? Would I also need the Escape chaincase? Is the Escape chaincase different in length? Thanks!
the caliper bolts on differently on the escape, so you would need the chain case. as far as i know they are the same length and use the same gears and chain.
I installed the new style chaincase on my 2003 RMK after I noticed my 2004 Vertical Escape had much better braking. Dual piston caliper. It bolted right on, installed teh new caliper, and reconnected the brake line. Had to slightly adjust the shape of the brake line as the connection point/angle is slightly different. Much improred chain tensioner as well.
I forgot to mention that I also did the same improvement to my 2002 Xc 500 so that it would have the better chaincase and the better brakes. Pro-X and newer style Edge all have the same chaincase as my 2004 Vertical Escape.
a friend of mine lost ger escape an 04 off the trailer this spring she doesnt want to deal with fixin it many good parts if you are interested good 159 trk too.
