Hey boys.

Ok so came on a deal with a buddy I couldn't pass up. Mint 04 with 1000 kms on it.
He did pipe, can, reeds and a few other small things. Non the less she's got a fu;;(d top end.

Now question. Rebuilt, bore out , turbo?
What is gonna be the best ? Had a few revs in the past ever 800 I had the motor blew lol ! I wanna do it once and right this time Around. It's gonna get a 162x15x3" truck on it and a bunch of other chit

If rebuild whAts my best option. Etc turbo? Upes and downs ( engine still needs rebuild) or big bore

Thanks

In my opinion, if you're going to spend the money, big bore is the way to go.
I have an RK Tek 860 and have 2 seasons on it with no issues. I run 20% VP110 fuel as a precaution against detonation. If you're riding the same base elevation, you probably wouldn't need the race fuel. I unload as low as 1500' and there is too much risk of detonation for my liking.
Good luck with your build.

hey man ok so now what about the crank? upgrade? stock pipe, aftermarket can?

You can't go wrong with Kelsey at RK Tek, http://www.2strokeheads.com/ or Big John at Sledhead Racing, http://www.sledheadracing.net/.
Either one of them will be happy to answer all of your questions. They are both approachable and helpful!
I mentioned RK Tek first because that's the engine that I have in mine and it works great.
rocks rev has had good experience with SHR and therefore is recommending him.
Call them both and go with your gut.

One thing to remember, the 04 is an HO and the biggest BB you can get in that motor is a 840 from SHR or an 827 from RK Tek. I believe there was a builder in CO that made an 860 for the HO but can't remember his name.

If you want to go the turbo route look up Gus on here, I don't think he gets messages but he'll give you his email and help you out. I believe he runs the non HO bottom ends and has run some BIG boost numbers on his set ups. I'm kicking around the idea of building a T-Rev next season to keep my 880 company in the summer time :) just need to put the finishing touches on the 880 this fall.
