Hey all. Im new to the 900 forums so bear with me. My friend has an 05 900 and on his last ride last season, the engine sputtered a little before dying. He tried to pull it over and the engine made one turn and stopped there. He tells me he is able to roll the clutch in either direction about one turn before it brings up. Any common issue that anyone else has seen with the same sypmtoms? He hasnt had the chance to take it apart yet and is just looking for a general idea from where to start. Thanks.

Mine did this same thing when I lost a piston skirt it ended up being a 2500.00 repair when all said and done. I hope this is not the case but there is likley something between the crank and the case stoping it from rotating . Mine went on a late spring ride as well . I would start with an inspection mirror and a flashlight look at the bottom of the cases for damage . After that pull the exhaust and inspect the pistons through the exhaust ports. Good luck at least you have found the best 900 forum there is bar none. you will find all the help you need and then some right here ust ask and /or check out the "how to" links, etc. at the top of the page .
probally droped a piston skirt. pull your y pipe off then pull out your reeds and look.
