Engine is out...Anything I should do while its out?

Hey guys.

Have my engine out getting done after it blew up. Is there anything I should do or check while it is out other than superclean the engine bay? I have some time to kill waiting for a motor and wondering if there anything I should check out or look for.

I have a new Motion Pro cable on the way along with a fuel filter as well.

I did notice though that my sled collects ALOT of snow under the SLP intake in the nose of the sled. I will check this out further but any common ways for snow to come in? As far as I know the bellypan is tight but I will be double checking.

Is it possible to visually see if the motor mounts are shot?

Thanks again.

Remove all of the motor mounts and check them THOROUGHLY! 900s are hard on them with all the torque.

Also be sure to check the intake boots for cracks, they can cause you problems as well if you develop an air-leak.... they take a lot of heat being trapped right under the exhaust.

If you are getting alot of snow under the intake, then for sure you are getting alot of snow in the engine as well. I remember seeing a while back they were putting slp or some sort of prefilter material over the screen of the intake but cannot remember how they were doing it. My guess is take the screen off, fold prefilter over the edges and some sort of glue or silicone to attach to the underside then re-rivet or screw the screen back on?

As the others have stated check mounts, steering go through to make sure tight and not damaged, go through wiring harness connections and check for corrosion, then put dielectric grease in or whatever it is called, also check around all the welds under and around the engine on frame for cracks.

While you have time waiting for an engine, might as well flush cooling system with water really good to get it clean and ready for new coolant.

EDIT- found the thread for prefilter. http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=194298

For my bellypan vents I just used aluminum window screen and folded it over and i holds itself in, no glue required. Tested it out over the weekend and it works great, very little snow got in but may have been from opening at hinge I did not do yet. Before the entire area in front of the radiator would pack in so tight and become one huge ice block.
