This forecast is focused on SKIING, but SNOW in the mountains is what we all care about.

Colorado-based meteorologist Chris Tomer offers his take on what weather we can expect across the nation this winter, with a focus on skiing.

My forecast for the upcoming Fall and Winter focusing on skiing, ENSO, patterns, and SST’s.
Chris Tomer
Tomer notes that the strength of the current La Niña means we might have a ‘warm, dry fall and a late start to winter for a lot of the west.’ The rest of the winter will pretty much mirror the previous two, which is good news for the PNW, British Columbia, Alberta, and the northern states; Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming, as well as the northeast of New England.

California can expect a below-normal snow winter causing the drought conditions to deepen.

Biggest winners:

  • Whistler/Blackcomb, BC
  • Schweitzer, ID
  • Banff Area, AB
  • Brundage, ID
  • Kicking Horse, BC

Just speaking for SE Idaho here, this is the best forecast I have seen thus far for this upcoming season!!

If Grand Targhee / Jackson Hole gets good snow, then WE have a great winter in general!!!
Another DECEMBER like last year would be STUNNING!!
