Enclosed trailer ride height, are car haulers to low?

Do the enclosed car hauler style trailers work ok? I am considering purchasing one but am slightly concerned about the lower ride height. I'm sure they tow better being lower to the ground but will I be plowing with it in the sled area parking lots? Just curious to your experiences with them.

I bought a triple sport Intersate seven years ago and have Put well over 100k on it pulling everything from my sleds to jeep to show car to sand rail you name it! Best purchase I have done for the use I get out of it. It has plenty of height, I think it's 6'2" inside height. I am 6'1" and have never hit my head.

I forgot to mention that I did get the 5000lb axles and the trailer door supports 5000lbs. They are needed to load heavy cars.
Also the thing pulls like a dream. Yes the lower ride height make a difference.

It depends on where you go, we tend to seek out the less populated, never groomed parking lots. One of the guys in our group had a car hauler and after several times having to chain up and be towed out while the rest of us drove through chainless, he traded it off and never looked back. The extra clearance of a standard clearance makes a huge difference in untouched lots and unbeaten roads.

If it comes to busting drifts, the carhauler will always be left behind.

If you are chasing freeways and daily maintained lots, the carhauler will rock.

I have a hillsboro car hauler and i love it for sleds. It is all aluminum the sides are doulble wall extruded planks that give it a non wavey side no rivets. I put 1/2 inch thick plastic sheets on floor which is also aluminum plank so carbides dont hurt it. I have a 8 foot slide master on gooseneck part of trailer. I have heater genset and tool box up top in gooseneck plus many other things. I also have 3 rolls of etrack down the sides of trailer. You can mount stuff to the sides very easy as they are heavy gauge. The top is insulated with blue board covered with aluminum. My trailer is 12 years old and still looks new. I sell there trailers but they do not make a bumper trailer with drive out the front ramp. I love the low load angle and being able to walk up ramp with out falling on rear! No one else makes a trailer with sides like they have. Get a car trailer and get more uses out of it.Plus all your freinds will ask you to help them move or move there kids! That is the bad part of a nice trailer.

I've got a V nose car hauler and have never gotten stuck with it. Pulls like a dream, although the car haulers tend to be a bit heavier than the sled trailers, so you need to make sure you've got enough of a tow rig.

Hey Burr

How flimsy are the sides on your trailer? If you even breathe on mine wrong it'll put a dent in it. Wanna go to a gooseneck trailer anyways this year and those Hillsboro's are nice.

I've been stick with my trailer that sits between a car and a sled trailer. It's not the frame that hangs up ,it's the tires getting out of the trucks tracks. My truck is stock so I guess that my lowest part is the stock front dif. For the price of buying a second trailer you could buy snow tires and an Elocker if you think your going to be stuck.

Wiseguy
The sides are very strong. I have no dents after 12 years. The planks are double walled with 2 ribs inside of them that run from inside to outside. The trailers have no side post. The planks are glued were they meet on top of each other and there are no splices down sides of trailer. I always get comments on how nice the sides look compaired to the wavey tin sides of other trailers.Like i said before you can mount things to walls and dont have to hit post with faseners.I had mine painted white on outside and is natural on inside. I would be happy to show you it to you if you are ever close to ten sleep wy.
