Enclosed Auto/snowmobile trailer 25'

I am getting an enclosed trailer. It is an auto/snowmobile trailer, how do you guys load from the front or the rear. It is an 8.5 wide do the wheel wells interfer, I am thinking load them from the front. 20' plus 5' V. It is the biggest to fit in the driveway at my place. It is also uninsulated is that a big deal when everyone is adding heaters? Any opinions. It has torsion axles but only 3500 not the 5200, mainly snowmobile trailer.

You're going to have enough room to load in any matter you want,
but typically people load from the front if they are trying to squeeze as many in as possible.

I prefer to load from the rear....ramp angle is flatter...easier in icy parking lots.

Truly is no right or wrong.

If you plan to use a heater, you will want to insulate. Both for heater efficiency & condensation.

Enjoy!

I have the same trailer. 20 foot with 5 foot V and we load 2 facing forward and 2 backward. Still plenty of room for spare gas cans and gear for 4 guys.

Mine is not insulated either but we do bring a sunflower heater with in case we need to work on a sled. There is condensation but it actually makes the trailer quite comfortable to work in.

Got a price back for 5200 lb axles for just a few hundred more for a royal cargo may go that route. That is what I was wondering if I need to load differently or just from the front to back it should work but wanted to hear for sure.

mine gets loaded differently about every time I throw em in.
Sometimes forward, sometimes backward, it just depends on how or where I'm at or how they will get unloaded.
2 forward and 2 backwards seems to leave the most room available for bags and gas cans.
With a little of Tetris you can get 5 sleds in there.
1 forward in nose, 1 backed in along side, another pulled in behind the first tail in the middle, last 2 backed in from rear,

Another question, what side for the front door. It kind seems good to have the fuel doors on the drivers side, same as truck fuel doors. Then the man door on the passengers side ahead of the wheel wells. The front door seems to make a better place on the drivers side then cause that is where I will be opening when we go (unloading the wifes and kidos sleds). I think the man door in the nose takes up space that can be used for storage. What do you guys think.

Any reason to unload or load from specific side?

Again, no right or wrong here.

I like the passenger side for unloading when parked along the side of a road.
However, I can only remember unloading along roadside once, so I would be OK with either.
But If I had to choose it would be passenger side.

Fuel doors MUST be on drivers side...That would be a deal breaker.

Just an FYI, I pulled the trigger. Got the Royal Cargo in white. My truck is white and the yellow was extra, the wifes car is yellow and would be bad a$$ to have a yellow trailer to match. Have til the 8th for any amendments. The fuel doors are on the drivers side, man door is on the passenger side with the front door on the drivers side. It was more then we wanted to spend but think the 5200 lb axles will be nicer to haul a vehicle in it. Build won't take as long as I was expecting 3-4 weeks from the 3rd. I can throw insulation in it later if I need to.

Thanks for the responses. May have to get some old truck bed liners to cut up for ski guides. What else is cheap that needs to be done?

I was going to do the bed liner thing, but the sleds don't go in on a straight line, so it didn't work for me. I used the do it yourself roll in bedliner on my floor this summer. I got it free from my buddy that is a dealer for it, so I thought I would try it. We just use the plastic ski skins when a sled goes in to keep the floor from getting dug into by the carbides. I plan to have my trailer for quite awhile, so I want to try to keep the floor in good shape.

For tie downs I went to tractor supply and bought pieces of E-track and some loops. I do end up using the 4 car tie downs too, but with the E-track you can bolt it in wherever you need to tie the sleds in. I have my E-track and loops set up so I can use superclamps on all of the sleds in the trailer. Works pretty good, we can be loaded and ready to leave pretty quick.

Also I have hauled several cars in mine already, I only have 3500 lb axles since it was built before I got it, but it works fine.

Enjoy it!

Forget fuel doors just get two walk in doors. Let me explain.

1. Open fuel door
2. stuff nozle in to fuel door.
3.walk around trailer to opposite side to get in.
4. fill sleds.
5. hop back out of trailer and walk back around to pull hose out.

Or open one big door crawl in with nozzle in hand. Get job done more efficently. get to riding.

That makes sense if you are alone.
We just have one guy inside trailer doing the fueling.
Both options work I guess.

I like the fuel doors and man door on the driver's side, way easier for everything and not having to run around the trailer. Insulated is the only way to go with a furnace, we were working on sleds in tee shirts the other night when it was 10 degrees outside.

Been thinking about it and I am going to change the door config. Both the fuel and man doors should be on the same side the drivers side. The front ramp door will be on the passenger side. Now I just have to call him up and make the change. Thanks for the help.
