The russians tried it once, they burned out a major series of power lines and phone lines.

This guy is over exaggerating a little I suspect. I think it takes a pretty good size bomb, 100 megaton or so to take out the entire country.

There's ways to protect yourself. Wrap a radio in several layers of tin foil, sealed really well. Makes a Faraday cage. The EMP can't penetrate it.

EMP's are pretty sweet, small oens are fun to play with, but in this day and age, we could shut a country down and not harm a sould with one....

maybe that would be the way to deal with N. korea. they touch us just completely wipe out everything electronic in there country, push em back a few years tech wise!!

North Korea's so backwards, you'd probably only knock out a few TV's and VCRs.

That future weapon video is pretty cool. I know some guys that tested EMP, and they parked their rental car under the generator. The car survived, until someone opened the hood. Obviously, that car didn't survive, probably blew out the computer.
