I live in soldotna which is only about 50 miles or so from redout
All the schools in the area are taking precautions

Within a certain distance of the eruption the volcano creates its own weather.

Too close and it is rain mixed with ash or just lots of ash that is sand paper.

You car / airplane etc any thing with an air intake will be sanded to destruction.

Breathing the ash will go into your lungs and not leave. Not good.

Big picture ... if the eruption is big enough and the ash is sent 30000 - 50000 feet into the air will cause global temperatures to drop.

On a grand scale "the mini ice age" few hundred years ago was from volcanic eruptions and forest fires.
