new to the pros, what's the trick to eliminating the huge ice block that grows at the rear of the boards/drop brackets?

im looking at either vinyl on the tunnel or some uhmw film

Boards with a huge hole back there seems to help. :)

These work great.

But stock a little plastic garden shovel works.

You can buy carbon fiber drop brackets, but they're like 300-400 I think. :eyebrows:

The Burandt boards that Polaris sells for Axys Replacement is not a good alternative- they hold the snow like the stock boards.
Looking at the BM Fab boards now- pricy but very well made- don't know about the snow shredding though .

The skinz airlock shorty boards look like they would hold less just $$$$$$$

With the cooler design of the Polaris it's going to be almost impossible to make them shed snow like a cat or doo for that matter. Snow turns to water at the cooler and then freezes where the board meets. We created our LE boards to eliminate all flat surfaces at the tunnel and they are significantly better at keeping clean but not 100 perfect. The ski-doo builds up at the rear suspension hanger as well but the board is so long that it's not as much of an issue with foot placement like it is on the Polaris. Even a complete carbon rear hanger will not solve the problem. Now if you had a tunnel that completely isolated the cooler from the tunnel so it can't transfer it's heat to it you would be close.

FYI, I have a 2016 AXYS that has the black paint on the boards. I am waiting for Polaris to replace the boards as I am one customer that got a bad batch with the paint peeling all off. As the paint went, the icing got worse. I used black gravel guard on them now while waiting for Polaris to fix properly. I have tried other products but I am surprised how well the gravel guard is working (staying on and repelling ice) and although slightly textured, it looks way better than the chipped/peeled things that I was experiencing.
