What is happening is sometimes, will start the machine up.
Headlight is really dim, the tach does not work, only the oil light lights up and it stays on.

But It does not do this all the time.
You can shut the machine off, restart it and it might work normally.
And it will continue to work normally intill you shut it off and restart. Where once it again it may act up or it may run normally.
It started this in the morning and over the course of the day of starting it appx 20 times, it acted up probably half the time.
What suggestions guys?

What happens if you give it a little gas to get the RPM's up.

Mine tend to like a little fun flipper when starting.

My 07 800 had the same problem. It was a relay that's zip tied to the upper steering support. Sometimes when I start it the lights don't come on or they are dim but the oil light is on. I can tap the relay and all the lights come on and the oil light goes off. It looks like a relay you can buy from an auto parts store. Hope this helps.

my xrs had the same sorta problem tried everything finally replaced the ecu and problem was fixed. pop off the plug to the ecu and see if water has got in there and if the pins are corroded at all

post on old site about same issue

I think there was a part number posted on the old site on a thread discussing this issue- I believe that Napa can get the relay for about $8, from your dealer about $30. If it isn't the relay, there is supposedly a recall on the ecu sealing. The boot on the plug is a real POS. Mine was totally rotten due to the engine heat by 250miles. Piss poor positioning of the ecu- it gets really blasted in deep powder and there is plenty of heat off the pipe to melt the snow and cause problems.
