electrical issue 07 600 rmk

i'm having so electrical issue on a carbed 07 600. every time i start it up it flashes the service engine warning and then goes into its normal function. other times while riding the entire display will reset, as if the sled was just started. and then there are times when i will start the sled and neither the display or lights will work. i'll shut it down and restart it with the same results. then on the next ride everything will be working "normal". also, the majority of the time my brake light, the one on the dash not the actual light, flashes or flickers when the sled is running, regardless of RPM. if i grab the brake then it will hold solid but many times the dash light will be on completely, even without pulling the handle.

i thought it might be a bad ground so i checked into all of the grounds and they were in good shape. i even added some grounds just to see if it made a difference. it didn't. any ideas? regulator? cdi? fwiw, the run-ability is never effected. runs good all the time regardless of what dash or light issues i'm having. can i bring it to a dealer to have them pull the code? is that possible on an 07 carb? thanks

ummm, not sure. what is the warning blinker? is that the service engine flash upon start up? if so, i believe it flashes 3 times, maybe 4?

Some of these sleds had trouble with the handwarmers shorting out on the bars. It would do it intermitently and would screw with everything. Something you might want to check.

I think the service issue is just your service reminder but the rest is a problem. I am having the identical problem. Brake warning is on but the mfd is blanking out along with the headlights. Also, the charge indicator on the right side of the mfd is indicating no charge and flashing just before it blanks out. The sled seems to run fine and always starts up. I am not confident enough to take it far from the trail for fear of it quitting.
If anyone finds a solution to this then please post.

Thanks,

Jason

Hand warmers are shorting to bars. There is a service bullitin for this, call or take it to your dealer of choice and have them run your vin#

The brake warning light on our 07/600 was flashing on and off, but the display never went out. I found the wiring harness connection at the back end of the seat was loose. The plug in was under the seat bag and must have worked loose from using the bag. The fix for the hand warmers is a couple wraps of electical tape on the bars, underneath the wire terminals.

Handwarmers.

I just disconnected the hand warmers, so far so good. The problem was intermittent, so I'll just wait and see but I couldn't duplicate it in my garage. If it is the handwarmers, how do I get them off without destroying them?

hey, thanks all for the input. hey i agree the flashing is just a service thing because my new d8 just started doing the same thing. how is this reset? might have to look into the hand warmer thing because at times i wonder if my warmers are working, than they seem to work fine. i'll try to unplug them and see if that makes a difference. will just unplugging them do anything? what about just turning them off? where have they been shorting out? someplace on the sticky part or the associated wires? did i mention before that my kill switch doesn't work most of the time? all of it seems to be related. thanks much
