Electric Trailer Furnace

Is there an electric enclosed trailer furnace out there that can be run off of the truck? I would like it to be wired into the trailer wiring so the trailer lights and heater all run off the 7-pin harness that plugs into my truck.

Is this possible????

I can't give you specifics on if there is one available, but on a power stance your truck is going to have to run probably any time you are running the furnace. If you have 2 batteries you could probably run it for a bit without the truck running, but I wouldn't want to risk draining my truck batteries out in boondock land and not have a backup. So, is it possible? I think so, but their are probably more efficient ways with less risk i.e. propane. Good luck

I think a generator and a 110 or 220 heater are your only options for electric heat. I don't think their is a 12 volt big enough to do any serious heating in a trailer.

Trailer Heat

I just built a snowmobile trailer/camper and insulated it. Several challenges with the main winter issue being how to heat it. Went completely with electric heat using 6v batteries and a generator. I also run directv off the batteries, lights & water pump. Main problem with electric heat is that to get any real heat out of them they need to be 600 - 1000W and many are 1500W. You also need an inverter. Shop around for inexpensive heaters. This trailer is 14' but electric heat gets it to 75 quickly. Cooking in it even faster. Key is good insulation. If your trailer is poorly insulated and/or you are in a very cold climate look for a gas heater with fan, rv style. My next trailer will be larger and will go with a gas heater. Good luck.
